Hmm, I just checked YouTube and it does not look like there is much Wannabe Texans video up there- just a reunion show from 2010. Here is a set from Gilman in Berkeley. Filmed with Aiwa CV80 camera and Sony ECM909 Mic.

Alright, this one should get your Monday off to a good start. We are starting to dig into the Flame videos that Laura Martinez shot. This one comes from a club I had not heard of before- Niles Station- and it sounds really nice for a stock camcorder mic. It looks like the building is now a tea shop.
The video time stamp shows 2/28/90, but Laura’s tape is marked 3/3/90. 2/28 was a Wednesday, 3/3 was a Saturday so I am figuring that 3/3 is probably the accurate date.

Can you believe that the Mentors played Gilman? The self proclaimed pioneers of “R*pe Rock” played the No Sexism venue. Who the heck booked this? If anyone has any insight into the membership meetings around this one, I would love to hear that story. Full disclosure- I am a former board member of Gilman and I love the place. Just taking a jab.
At least they booked the perfect opening act- The Yeastie Girlz! Here is about 6 minutes of their opening set, courtesy of Robert Eggplant’s collection. Thanks Robert!
Thanks to Wayne Vanderkuil for helping find a flyer for this one.

Well here is something pretty cool for you. This one is from Arica Pelino’s collection and it seems that she came into possession of the master Gilman demo from Fifteen. Amazing!
Even though it is off the master, it is still demo quality so don’t get too excited. I tried shazam’ing a couple tracks and nothing is ID’d so I am assuming this was not released anywhere. Let me know if it was.
