Neurosis- 924 Gilman, Berkeley Ca 12/13/87 Transfer from 1st gen soundboard cassette Punk Neurot

I decided to start digging into Anonymous’ cassettes again- I kept running out of time and would end up posting some recent stuff he recorded. This one is from an old tape that Radley compiled for him. Man, Radley always hooked us up with the tapes and many of them are not online now. I was surprised that this one wasn’t out there.

The mix, like many early Gilman mixes was heavy on vocals and light on everything else so I rebalanced it in izotope to even it out. I love this era of Neurosis.

Dinosaur Jr.- Night Shift Cafe, Naugatuck Ct 12/12/87 xfer f/1st gen VHS tape (I think)

Thanks for Mann Medic for telling me what to do! He is finding some real gems that I forgot I even had in the collection. I am pretty sure that this is a 1st gen VHS that I digitized on my old gear. Still nice quality, even raw and at 720p.

Die Kreuzen- Riverside Ballroom, Green Bay Wi 12/7/87 xfer f/low gen audio tape open for Husker Du

Late collections post today, this one from Jason Ross’ collection. I have been posting a lot of stuff from Jason’s collection lately. This one is something he probably got from the taper, since he lived in Green Bay shortly after this show took place.
The recording was a bit harsh with some high end distortion, so I EQ’d most of it out while still keeping most of what;s important in the mix.

Doggy Style- WNYU Crucial Chaos Live in Studio,New York City 12/3/87 xfer 1st gen tape punk Flipside

I have been so busy all morning, I forgot to post today’s On This Date. This one is for Jeff (Gus Buss) as he is a big DS fan. I think this one was taped by Dan Pettit and he didn’t live too close to the radio station so you will hear some reception static.

Crucial Chaos was pretty active with these live in studio sessions in the late 80s. I already posted a Murphy’s Law one from here and the band Beyond even had their session released by Revelation records.
