Verbal Abuse- Rock on Broadway, San Francisco Ca 3/21/86 xfer from master cassette

Mediocre Monday! Today is also high stress Monday, to the point where it is getting kinda silly. Oh well.
After a week off, here is another on from Wayne Vanderkuil’s treasure trove. Great stuff, albeit a bit distorted due to the volume. Tomorrow’s post will be another Wayne tape that sounds really nice!
I love that at the end of the tape, Wayne tells friends that they should bail from this show and head over to New Method to see Attitude Adjustment play. I don’t know who else played this show, but bailing to see AA is always a good call. It sounds like Scotty may have had a couple of pre-show beverages on this one. (btw, opinion expressed in these posts may not represent mine.. and may not even represent opinions of the people who said them, 35 years later…)

Verbal Abuse- On Broadway, San Francisco Ca 1/10/86 xfer f/ master audio cassette Lyon Wong Memorial

Here’s another old punk audio recording for Mediocre Monday. This one is special because it was a memorial show for Lyon Wong, who was murdered just 5 days before this show. I don’t know if ToT played the show- did they play any more shows after Lyon passed?
Huge thanks to Wayne Vanderkuil for documenting all of these early punk shows. It sounds like an old punk recording, but I did EQ to make this sound as good as possible.

Verbal Abuse- Wellingtons, Winnipeg Canada 10/24/84 xfer from master audio cassette

It’s Tour Manager Doug Tuesday! This recording was well-circulated among traders in the 80s. It was so clean, it was listed as a soundboard tape even though it is a Doug audience recording. It’s nice to make a clean transfer of the source tape to EQ it- it sounds pretty good.
Doug also sent across a few pages of photos from that 2 night stand in Winnipeg. Wellingtons was a hotel and performance venue, and the band was well cared for. In fact, the liner notes of Hell Awaits makes reference to “MAROUSHKA LIVES IN OUR BRAINS!” — Maroushka worked at the Wellington Hotel, the club was in the basement. There’s your Slayer trivia for the day. Pay attention, there will be a test.
