Thin White Rope- Burro Room, Chico Ca. 3/22/91 Part 1

Man, what a night this was. The Burro Room was a legendary venue- the Room was a standard venue- long and narrow. Next door was Juanita’s Burritos- they had cheap burritos and was one of the first places in the nation to have Sierra Nevada on tap. So we would drive up there, have a couple of pitchers and a burrito and wait for the show. This show was one of the best (and longest) I ever saw of TWR. I found a great little perch above the door between the 2 venues thatwas not only great for a tripod, but also sounded excellent because it was close to the PA. Recorded with the old Aiwa CV80 camcorder with a Sony ECM-909 mic velcro’d to the top. Enjoy! PS: Guy is in a beautiful polka dot dress for the show.

This is part 1 only- you can find the rest of the show on Youtube

Thin White Rope- Veteran’s Memorial Auditorium, Davis Ca. 2/2/91 Pt 1

This was the only time that I was able to see TWR in their hometown. The venue was interesting- there was no good place to place my tripod so I had to film handheld from a distance, so it is a bit shaky at times. This was the most animated crowd I ever saw at a TWR show.

Thin White Rope- Veterans Memorial Auditorium, Davis Ca. 2/2/91 Live xfer from master Enhanced

I am taking all of the darkest videos first and trying to enhance them. This one turned out ok. Man, I wish I used a tripod for this one. There was no semi-level place to film from there.

Enhanced with Adobe Premiere (contrast & brightness), Neat Video for noise reduction.

Thin White Rope- AJZ, Bielefeld Germany 6/1/90 Audio Soundboard xfer from 1st gen band archive tape

I was digging through a tray of tapes a while back for something else and came across this one. This is one of my favorite TWR tapes, out of the ~100ish that I have. ML told me that this is just a straight board mix, but it came out amazing. TWR board mixes are usually unbalanced because they played so loud, but this one was close to perfect- all I had to do was boost the high end a bit. A rare case when the band sounds amazing and the mix works. Thanks ML for sending this to me about 30 years ago!!
Listen with headphones- Roger’s guitar is in one channel and guy’s is in the other. Kick ass, espcially during Mr. Limpet.

Equipment used: House deck, I assume

Thin White Rope- AJZ, Bielefeld Germany 6/1/90 Audio Soundboard xfer from 1st gen band archive tape Rebalance

Bonus post today- I posted this a couple weeks back and one of the band members mentioned Guy’s vocals being buried in the mix. His vocals were almost always low in the mix. I rebalanced this one and pushed the vocals up as much as possible and got some feedback that this one sounds better. So here is the boosted vocal version for you.

Thin White Rope: I-Beam, San Francisco Ca 2/16/90 xfer from soundboard cassette incomplete

For today’s On This Day in History, Thin White Rope played with Young Fresh Fellows and American Music Club at the I-Beam. It was a Frontier Records showcase. Man, Lisa Fancher had great taste in the bands that she signed to Frontier. What a lineup.
This is about 20 minutes of Thin White Rope’s set. My tape is a bit longer but the first few i=minutes is unlistenable due to a bad tape dub. Hopefully ML or someone has the full set because it sounds great!
