Slayer- Sherwood Hall, Salinas Ca 2/21/86 xfer from 1st or 2nd gen audio cassette

I usually don’t worry about posting on the anniversary of a show, but I see people posting and commenting on this show more often than most, so I figured I’ll pull it out and digitize it for you.
This show was memorable for a few reasons. First, after watching that life-changing D.R.I. opening set at Club Can’t Tell the previous August, I bought every D.R.I. thing (LP, 7″) and wore them out in 6 months. This would be the first show I saw of D.R.I. after being converted to a massive fan. Second, this was the first show I went to in a few months- I had lost my job in December (only time I was ever fired!) and was at a low point in life, in general. Me, Matt Polish and a bunch of friends piled into my 1985 Tbird and made the 3 hour drive there. Third, this was the first time that I was invited to hang backstage before the show- I had ended up back there afterwards, but Matt had become very good friends with the band so he (and friends) were invited to hang out… and I almost spilled the nails out of Kerry’s wristband right before the show. Who knew they weren’t in there securely?

D.R.I.- Sherwood Hall, Salinas Ca. 2/21/86 xfer from 1st gen audio cassette tape full show DRI

Since I posted the Slayer set yesterday, I figured that I would post DRI’s opening set today. I was so pumped for the D.R.I. set as they had quickly become my favorite band at the time. The crowd did not appreciate them- you can hear Kurt mention that they were getting harassed a bit. They were great and the set is a great mix of Dirty Rotten and Dealing with it. Ricky always did a nice job recording shows, he was a good guy.
