Dave Alvin & Jimmie Dale Gilmore w/ The Guilty Ones- Oddfellows Hall, Auburn Ca. 8/24/19 Audio

This was the maiden voyage for my new preamp (same one I used for Iron Maiden’s audio) and it sounds pretty good. Thanks Chris for the help- it has been working great!
Dave had some amp problems but it really gets going in the 2nd half of the set. It was nice seeing Jimmie Dale Gilmore play with a kickass rock band!

Jimmie Dale Gilmore- Palms, Davis Ca 5/13/98 DAT Master xfer Coresound Mics

Someone asked for something at the end of this tape, so you get this show as well. Man, I loved the old Palms. It had an atmosphere that will never be matched. It was a real treat when some of the old-school troubadours came through town. I believed that the venue really brought the best out in these performances.
With that said, my coresound mics were at the end of their rope by this time. There was a short in one of the wires (they were eyeglass mounted mics at the end of a wire) which would emit a high pitched whine in one channel of a few later recordings. This one was just screaming in one channel and I could not process it out… so you get 1 channel duplicated into the left and right channels. If someone out there wants to attempt to fix this thing, let me know.

Jimmie Dale Gilmore- Strawberry Festival, Angels Camp Ca 10/4/96 onsite FM Sbd xfer from DAT Clone

Here’s today’s good time listening thing. I think this came from the guy in Auburn whose name I can’t remember. He mastered a bunch of Jam/Folk/Country stuff in the 90s. I never made it to one of the Strawberry fests, but I heard that they supplied a low power on-site FM broadcast so campers could listen from the campsite. Some innovative folks figured out how to power an FM receiver and record the sets.
Good set by JDG, and he wasn’t the most open person about taping so this is a rare treat.
