Accused A.D.- Louie’s Cocktail Lounge, Rancho Cordova Ca 5/4/24 4K UHD Rode Pro Stereo Audio G9ii

This might be a long post. After missing the Punk in the Park and Omega Fest shows yesterday(I had planned to cut over early evening to Omega), I was able to get the kids to bed in time to head over to Louie’s Cocktail Lounge to see Unprovoked and Accused A.D.
I had never been to Louie’s, but it is one of those OLD neighborhood bars that have been around for as long as I can remember. How old? Well, I can’t find that info online but they have not one but TWO bingo nights each week! I ordered a drink (Jack & Coke) which was about 75% jack, 25% coke. Even the melted ice tasted like Jack Daniels, until a drunk guy stumbled over and knocked the plastic cup (no glass-the bar clearly knows their clientele) on the ground. $8 for the alcohol content of 3 drinks in other bars- great value!
On to the venue side of the club- it was way better than I expected. They have a proper stage, lighting and PA. They have one of those black and white checkerboard floors, like the press club used to have. The PA could not quite keep up with Alex’ guitar volume, but it didn’t sound bad at all. The audio level on this is a bit low, but I did not have time to fix it if I wanted to post today. Still need to check the schoeps audio to see if this warrants a repost later.
It was also nice catching up with my long-time friend Loren Scott. We chatted right up until Unprovoked played- he plays bass in the band. I will post more about them when I post that set.
Oh, one last thing- since the drinks were so strong, this was the drunkest crowd I have ever seen. People were stumbling everywhere. After the Accused finished and the house lights came up, this one long-haired metal dude was standing there (well, trying to stand), staring at his hands. He apparently thought that his fingernails were painted in a shade of black (metal approved), but they were instead painted a beautiful shade of blue. Perfect ending to the night. I will definitely come back to Louie’s for another show!

What a wild night. I was on vacation doing family stuff and I get to the club super late. Across the street from the venue is 2 biker bars and there are literally HUNDREDS to harley davidsons lined up and people packed in the bars and flowing out onto the street. I got lucky and found a parking spot right next to one of the bars and across the street from the venue.
I get in there and this is the punkest punk club I have been to in years- dank and humid, graffiti everywhere, and the drink selection consisted of PBR, Miller and Coors light. I talk to the soundman about plugging into the board and he tells me that the outputs are blown- there is no way to get a board mix. So instead, I settle into an area that should be safe from the pit and a good place for audio… and then that side of the PA starts smoking. The soundman assures me that it is working fine, but when Blaine starts checking the mic, nothing is coming out of that main.
So I scramble over to the other side of the stage and get close to the PA, hoping I get decent audio. Nope- it was garbled and distorted. So instead of a board mix, or the rode video pro stereo mic, you get Canon HFG50 stock audio. I tried.

The Accused A.D.- Den of Sin, Sacramento Ca. 10/25/19 4k UHD Live

Here is the last video I did at Den of Sin on Friday. After Sheer Terror’s set, I took off for the Knockoffs show at Old Ironsides, which was ANOTHER criminally under attended show. Come on, people.

The Accused ripped! Man, I had not seen them play live since the late 80s. What energy. I’m surprised Blaine sounds the same- that vocal style cannot be easy on the vocal chords.

I think Jesse took my angles and his angles and did a 9 camera edit for 1 or 2 songs… but here is the complete show with only 4 cameras. Man, they were way better than I expected. Blaine sounded exactly the same as the old days and they were tight. R.I.P. Thee Slayer Hippy. On drums here during his last tour, or so I’ve been told.
