Underfire- Daddy O’s, Sacramento Ca 2001 or 2002 transfer from 1st gen VHS tape Punk

This is yet another set from Ken Doose’s 6 hour tape of local bands. I broke the recording of the tape into 6 parts whenever I saw a band change sets.. but there appears to be multiple bands per segment. So what I am trying to say is that we will be posting early 2000’s sets of local bands for a loong time.

This set is Underfire w/Jasson Jess, who was in Black Crosses more recently.

and I know this isn’t the right photo(facebook) for daddy o’s. I can’t find any images for this venue or for the band.

Elsah- Spanish Moon, Baton Rouge La 4/7/04 xfer from Hi8 master Alt Country enhanced

Another late one- this video collections post is from Neil Werries’ collection, and it is the LAST non-multicamera video I have of his. I received an email with an offer for video help. I need help with the time alignment of his other angles, so let’s hope that works out. I would love to get the rest of Neil videos done.

This one was really dark. I did my best to brighten it and clean it up, but it is DARK. At least it sounds decent. These “0474” was on Neil’s tape, but it definitely doesn’t mean April of 1974…

NOFX- Catalyst, Santa Cruz Ca 2/28/01 xfer from DV Master- On Stage

Since I just had a quick meetup and tape exchange with Guerin, let’s do one from his collection today. Man, this one is great. NOFX fans are going to love it. On stage with pretty good audio- that pretty much never happens.

I don’t know why the thumbnail is so dark- the show is well lit, looks great.

Honeyspot- Self Titled Out of Print CD 2002 Sacramento Band

It’s time for another installment of Local Spotlight, where we share independently released/hard to find official releases by Sacramento region bands.

Honeyspot were Adam Donald on guitar and vocals; D.J. Farrell on drums and percussion; Bryan Miller on guitar and vocals; and Mike Pope on bass. Seems to be a sought after CD from the look of prices online.

Recorded by: Bryan and Ken Miller at Sierra audio in Orangevale.

The Mallrats- 3 song demo 2002 Sacramento Power Pop Punk Mr. T Experience

Late collections post today- I got my 2nd Shingles vaccine and it is kicking my ass. I’m going to sleep as soon as this posts, haha.
So this is another installment of the “Locals Only” series, where we share out of print/demo CD’s from our local scene.
The way I came across this is wild- I saw a lady on our Buy Nothing group in Orangevale giving away some CD’s. Among them were some local bands so I asked her about them. Turns out that she had an entire binder full of locally released and demo CD’s that she bought at shows. So, thanks to Emily Cole Brown for letting me borrow these. Thanks for the treadmill too! I am a regular buy nothing “customer” of hers, haha. Nice to know that we have some culturally cool folks out here in OV.
Mallrats was Ted Angel (who joined MTX a couple years later.), Steele Strella and Adam Miller

Recorded by: Gordon Hanley (in Orangevale! See? We’re cool)

The Knockoffs- I See London, I See France Limited Release CD 2002?

I was at the Riving Loom last night, watching Tom Hutchison & Kevin Seconds play, and Tom mentioned getting The Knockoffs’ “sell the move” online. I thought of this CD that I bought from them years ago- it is one of my favorite things of theirs. Tom was OK with posting it, so here you go. 4 track demos of many “Sell the Move” tracks along with GREAT covers by Go National, Groovie Ghoulies, The Clash (my favorite cover), and many more.
The quality is raw, but I like raw. Hope you enjoy it.
PS: You should go to Riving Loom for a musical performance. Great sound and wonderfully intimate shows.
