Chris Applegren- Wild in the Streets Radio Show, KMUD Garberville early 1990s tape 3 w/Livermore

This is the 3rd and final tape of Chris Applegren’s “Wild in the Streets” radio show from Arica Pelino’s collection. Arica mentioned that Green Day makes an appearance on one of these tapes(she has pictures) but I checked them all and could not find it. Unless that voice over the phone is Tre. Hard to tell. Let me know if you find GD on any of the 3.

The rap song was mastered super loud so I had to normalize all of the audio around it so you could hear everything.

Red Asphalt (?) w/Eden- Night Flight “Up All Night”, USA Network Early 1990s xfer f/band archive VHS

Alright, before anyone gets on me about this one, I edited the worst of it out. I only kept the musical performance. This one is from Scott Davey’s Archive. The Red Asphalt part is a guess- the tape was labeled “RA2 w/Eden” and it was a 23 minutes of bizarro lingerie campiness.

In the early 90s, night flight TV apparently had a late night lingerie party where they did many episodes of this.

I hope someone from the RA band can confirm that this is them

Chris Applegren- Wild in the Streets Radio Show DJ, KMUD-FM Garberville early 1990s Larry Livermore

The Lookout records hits just keep on coming! This is from Arica Pelino’s collection and it is a fun listen. This is Chrisser DJ’ing the local station up in the woods of Garberville. Anyone who has enjoyed Lawrence Livermore’s Spy Rock Memories book should enjoy this- it plops you right in the middle of that scene.

Speaking of Larry, he comes on for a short bit later in the show. There are 3 of these Chrisser tapes and one of them has some young kids who went on and did something kinda big. Stay tuned. 🙂

Far- Sweat a River, Live No Lies Demo 1991 xfer from master demo tape Jonah Matranga

It has been a while since the archive has had this late of a post. I told you I was running late all day!

This one comes from Kaiden Skinner’s collection, and it is the last one I have from him. I think this one might be out there on YT, but not with a Nak Dragon transfer, so let’s put a potentially better version up.

The Muffs- KCSB Live in Studio, Santa Barbara Ca 1991 xfer from low gen audio cassette Kim Shattuck

NEW collection from Scott Hamilton. It’s 6 tapes, but it has a bunch of Muffs so it warrants an announcement! Thanks Scott for sending the tapes over.

I knew that UCSB had bands in studio on their radio station, but I had never seen a Muffs tape until Scott sent it. It’s a little distorted at the start but it settles down a few minutes in. The band played so loud that it is nice to hear an early live performance that is decent quality.

Lawsuit- Kind of Brown Out of Print CD Davis Sacramento Ska Band 1991

It’s time for another Locals Only post- we post an officially released CD from a local band about once a month. The stipulations are: a) it must be out of print and b) it cannot be for sale by the artist. I almost didn’t post this one- the disc is rare and there are no posts on Youtube, but the band has it available on their bandcamp page as a FREE download. I went ahead and posted it because only about 6 people have downloaded from bandcamp, and the release deserves more notice than that. If you like it, head over to Lawsuit’s bandcamp page and download it! Did I mention FREE?

Scherzo- 924 Gilman, Berkeley Ca 1991 xfer from VHS Master tape Lookout Records Punk

What a day. I had planned to go to one of the TWENTY shows in town, but everything went wrong and I ended up waiting for my daughter to finish her saxophone lesson until 8pm, then eat dinner. I hope you all got out tonight.
Here is one from Rodney Parker’s collection, and this one is kinda special.

When I digitized this tape, I checked on Rodney’s youtube channel for info and saw that this had never been posted by him. It was taped after another Scherzo show and kinda forgotten about. So, world premiere! Woo!

Metallingus- 2 song demo xfer from master tape to mp3 Stikky Nasal Sex

Bonus post for you all today. I promised Wayne and Chris I would post this one this week and then ran out of days, so 3 posts today.
Here’s what I wrote about Metallingus:
Metallingus was Chris Wilder from Stikky and the band Nasal Sex (Rocci Cerone, Joe Cerone, and Andrew Sacco). They wrote the most ridiculous metal parody songs and then they would play them live at the metal clubs. About half got the joke.

Anyway, the deocder ring for the members:
Bob Scepter: Rocci Cerone
Hannibal Lecter: Chris Wilder
Legba: Joe Cerone
Burt Clifton: Andrew Sacco(I think)

I lied and said that the last demo was the only recorded output from the band. Here are 2 more songs!

Sense Field- Demo 1991? Xfer from master audio cassette Emo Post Hardcore Reason to Believe

Here is one of those EIGHTEEN different collections of tapes I have over here, including my own. The owner of these would like to remain anonymous, but since we already have one anonymous person contributing, let’s call this person “Anonymous 2”. Kinda like Thing 1 and Thing 2. This collection has hundreds of demo tapes and a few live sets.
The first demo from the collection is this one by Sense Field. Out of the first 14 tapes I transferred, this is the one that just floored me. Wow, they were really great!
By the way, this tape is FOR SALE. It is the ORIGINAL demo tape, directly from the band. $150 or best offer. Please contact me at shaynestacy@hotmail.com and I will help coordinate the deal.

Filth- Demo recorded at 924 Gilman xfer from low gen audio cassette East Bay Punk Lookout Records

It’s Monday, and this is the first time I have had a minute to come to the studio and post for you today. This one is from Robert Eggplant’s collection and sounds pretty close to the master tape. I tried to shazam some of the songs to see if they have ever been released, but it doesn’t seem like it. Let me know if I am off base- you usually do lol (and I appreciate it).
