Obnoxious Odors- Cattle Club, Sacramento Ca. 1991 time frame xfer from Master VHS tape enhanced

Here is yet another one from Mike Parisi’s collection of VHS tapes. This one features an extended intro by Jerry Perry and Eric Bianchi even chimes in after a bit.
Man, this video is DARK. This is after it was brightened and after the increased exposure work. At least it sounds decent.
The band consisted of Guy Jones, Paul Withrow, Kalani Stone and Mike Orr.

GWAR- America Must be Destroyed Demo xfer from band archive cassette HBD Brockie

I was trying to get a little more organized over here and was unboxing and moving a bunch of Barry Ward’s tapes and came across this one. This is all the info I have on it- I tried to shazam the songs to see if they made it onto any deluxe edition reissues but apparently not. Since it is Dave Brockie’s birthday today, I figured it would be a good time to post this up. Enjoy.

Go,Dog.Go!- Club Lingerie, Los Angeles Ca. 1991 Multicamera xfer from VHS Master

From Paul: Of all the clubs in LA we played, our weakest draw was at Club Lingerie on the Sunset strip. Naturally it was the only club that offered an in house recording of the show you performed, for more than nominal fee and it was delivered in almost lifelike VHS (the industry standard in 1991. The Audio was recorded directly from the board, hence the low guitar level. I did what I could to liven the sound quality.Club Linerie closed its doors in April 1995.

Brain Tourniquet- 4 Track Demo from Split tape w/Slug Punk Hardcore xfer from Master 1991

Uncle Tupelo- Still Feel Gone Rehearsal Demo Early 1991 Audio only xfer from band archive master tape

Thanks for all of the birthday wishes! That was very nice of you all.

Here’s another tape from the Uncle Tupelo cassette archive- this one is so cool- a really nice quality studio recording of Still Feel Gone songs, done before the sessions at Fort Apache. I think I recall that this was the official studio cassette that I transferred. Man, I wish I took pictures of those tapes.

Jersey Beat Vol 1: 2hr video fanzine with LIVE footage of American Standard, Pink Lincolns NJHC NYHC

Here’s a fun one that I just digitized a couple of weeks ago. It’s Jersey Beat’s first video fanzine featuring all kinds of great footage of the NYHC and NJ scenes and live songs from Crocodile shop, headstrong, kingpin, bedlam hour, loose, American standard, the lost, pink lincolns, All You Can Eat, and freak beans. Appears to be from the early 90s.

The Posies- DGC Demo 1991 xfer from Master tape from label Auer Stringfellow Seattle

I picked this demo up recently and it blew me away- so much, that I thought I would listen to it and post right away. I think some of these tracks may have been scattered across the Omnivore reissues and the long out of print box set.. but I don’t think all of them have been released.
Some of my favorite Posies songs are on here- Farewell Typewriter & This One’s Taken (which they did when I saw them at Cattle Club in 1991). This appears to be from more than one session, recorded after Dear 23 and before Frosting. Coool.

Golden Smog- Minneapolis, Mn. 1991 xfer from unknown gen audio cassette enhanced

Happy new year.
Bear Williams posted about The Left Banke’s GREAT song “Walk Away Renee” and I mentioned that I had a cover version by Golden Smog on a live tape. He asked me to post, so it started a mad search through setlist.fm and about 15 DAT soundboards to no avail. I was about to give up when I decided to check this soundboard that I got in a cassette trade in the 90s. There it was.
This is the OLD incarnation of Golden Smog, pre- “On Golden Smog” release and pre-tweedy. I think the band pictured is the band playing. Gary Louris, Kraig Johnston, Danny Murphy, Chris Mars. This is such a killer set- you should really listen to it… but it will probably be ignored since I posted at 10:30pm on new years day.
