Sarchasm- The Colony, Sacramento Ca. 1/11/17 Canon HFG30 Rode Video Pro mic

Here is a small part of Sarchasm’s set at The Colony earlier this month. Sarcasm are a bay area band made up of Gilman Street volunteers. Alex Botkin (bass/vocals) is the guy who put on the lookouting. They are playing on Feb 4 with Surrogate Brains and Last Communion in Stockton. Who wants to go?

The O’Mulligans- The Colony, Sacramento Ca. 1/11/17 Live Master

I was gone for a week so there were no posts, but I’m back and continuing with the scrubbing of older lists of recordings and posting stuff I missed.
What an awful week it has been. The fire in Paradise has been unreal- please give your time, money or supplies to help. I think all of us know at least someone who has been affected.
Here is a video of The O’mulligans at the Colony from early last year. The Colony is closing and their big final blowout is this weekend, so please show up. I’ll be there Saturday!

Mad Judy- Colonial Fest, The Colony Sacramento Ca. 8/27/16 Canon HFG30 & Rode

The band finally gave the OK to post this one. I think they were afraid that the awesome “don’t fear the reaper” cover may break the internet. Seriously, the last 2 Mad Judy shows were not complete- this one was missing Audrey (Jeff Hollandsworth did a nice job filling in though) and the one last night was missing Jordan. Still a fun show.

Charles Albright- The Colony, Sacramento Ca. 3/3/16 Sacramento Punk Canon HFG30 Rode Video Pro Pt. 1

This was my first time seeing Charles and it was really great. He has a kick ass band with Hans from the Croissants and Adam from Little Tents and CHRCH. I had no idea Adam could play drums (little tents) and guitar (Charles’ band). The highlight of the night (besides the music) was watching Adam rock so hard that he loses his glasses, then he somehow does not step on them for the rest of the song.. then put them back on and repeats for the next song. Overall, the band is great- early L.A. hardcore sounding. Enjoy.

Kepi Ghoulie- The Colony, Sacramento Ca. 1/21/16 OLD Groovie Ghoulies songs & Green Day cover! Pt 1

I was not even supposed to be in town for this show, but I missed a flight for a work trip so I made a last-minute decision to go.. and I am so glad I did! Kepi got some guys from local Sacramento band The Strange Party to back him up. They played songs I had not heard in 20 years- Blood Beach, 50,000 Spaceships and more! There’s even a Green Day cover in the set. It was great seeing everyone- friends, people who performed, and people who made it happen.

The O’Mulligans- The Colony, Sacramento Ca. 1/21/16 Sacramento Punk Pt. 1

I had never seen The O’Mulligans, but I knew that Matt Bennett was a fan, and he’s a man of good taste. I usually check out a band once before getting permission and filming, but they were so good, I just whipped out the camera and started filming. Hope you guys don’t mind! Filmed with a Canon HFG30 and rode video pro stereo mic.

Madball- The Colony, Sacramento Ca. 11/19/15 Canon HFG30 shot with Rode Video Pro Stereo Mic NYHC

This show was insane. The Colony is tiny, has no stage and virtually no lighting. They(obviously) sold the place out for this show- I was smashed on the side of the “stage”(carpet) holding my monopod. Thanks to the guy who kept me from falling over when the crowd was pushed a few times. Thanks to Agelos for the authoring work- he added the good audio to the side stage camera.

Strife- The Colony, Sacramento Ca. 11/19/15 Canon HFG30 SHot with Rode Video Pro Mic sxe hardcore

This one is being posted for Ian Smith. I think you were the guy who helped me stay upright when we were being crushed. Thanks for not allowing me (and the camera)to hit the floor! Here’s Strife’s set from that night. I said it before- The Colony is a tough room to film or even see a band.
