Dead is Better- The Colony, Sacramento Ca. 5/10/17 Partial Set Canon HFG30
Here is Dead is Better’s set from last night. I hung out at the café next door and talked to Corey and Justin and missed part of their set. Holy crossover! They were great! I whipped out the camera and shot the rest of the set. This was their first show. Good stuff!

Ultra (Spain) – The Colony, Sacramento Ca. 5/10/17 Canon HFG30
Ultra was a late addition to the show. They are on tour all the way from Spain and I thought it was pretty cool of them to play a benefit. Very energetic lead vocalist- he was literally climbing the walls.

Broken Wands- The Colony, Sacramento Ca. 4/20/17 Multicam
Here’s another one that got lost in the shuffle. The opener Julie the Bruce was posted a long time ago, but not this one.
This was a fun show. Morgan Giles threw a CD release show for his project Broken Wands. It was only like $5 to get in and he was giving CD’s to everyone who attended.
I kinda miss seeing Morgan around- does anyone know what he is up to? He got rid of his FB account and I don’t see him at shows.

Hotbods- The Colony, Sacramento Ca. 4/7/17 w/Members of Dead Dads, DCOI & Bastards of Young!
This was Hotbods’ debut show. Good stuff, reminiscent musically of Bastards of Young. Members are: Cory Wiegert(Guitar), Sean Hills (Bass/Punch and Pie), Lys Mayo(Drums), Ben Dewey (DCOI/Shuffle Six), and Patrick Hills(guitar). Great stuff! Happy Birthday Cory.

Celestions- The Colony, Sacramento Ca. 4/7/17 Part 1 Canon HFG30 Rode Video Pro Stereo Mic
You know that when a band sets up, and the wheel up a keyboard setup that is older than you are, that it is probably going to be pretty good. And it was. Celestions are: Andrew Harrison performs vocals and plays guitar along with guitarist, Curtis Franklin. Jeff Kapellos is on keyboard and Gabe Van Dyke plays the bass. Greg Wellman rocks on percussion(thanks to accesslocal website for the info).

The Polyorchids- The Colony, Sacramento Ca. 4/1/17 Part 1 Canon HFG30 and Rode mic
There have been a ton of great bands in Sacramento over the years. I have counted locals as my favorites since the mid-80s, starting with Redrum and Sentinel Beast, then on to Bliss, The Groovie Ghoulies, The Knockoffs, The Skirts, and all the way to now with The Strange Party, The Moans, Little Tents, Dead Dads and tons more. Here’s another GREAT sacramento band who are relatively new to me. You must go listen to their EP on bandcamp- so great! There are no monitors at The Colony, so cut them some slack.
