Rush- The Forum, Inglewood Ca 11/27/96 xfer f/1st Gen VHS tape complete show Geddy Lee Neil Peart

Today’s On This Date in History comes from Bootleg Cowboy’s collection of VHS tapes I have had here for a loong time. In fact, his collection was the first I took in. After yesterday’s MDC debacle, I am paranoid about posting something that is already out there on YT, but this one doesn’t seem to be out there. That’s unusual for a band like Rush. This show is close to 3 HOURS long! Kudos to the cameraman for bootlegging a concert for that long. Not easy.

I tend to not celebrate holidays like this (you know, the ones where you were fed a line of BS in school and then you find out later what really happened), but I am super grateful for everyone who is supporting my attempt to make my hobby into my full-time job. You seriously have no idea how much you have helped me personally by being here, encouraging and helping me, and supporting me. Thank you.

Rush- Arco Arena, Sacramento Ca 2/10/94 xfer from 8mm master tape Enhanced Geddy Lee Neil Peart Alex

We have almost made it to the weekend- what a grind of a week this has been. I hope everyone stays cool- temps are going to be brutal.
Speaking of cool, here is one out of Gary Shurtleff’s box of master tapes. This looks to be a partial set and I did not see the other part in any of the boxes. I hope it was captured.
Anyway, here is 40min of the Rush set at Arco in 1994. I am sure that a bunch of my friends were there. This is another one that cleaned up that 8mm grain nicely, even though it wasn’t captured lossless.

Rush- Oakland Coliseum, Oakland Ca. 1/30/92 Audio Xfer from DAT Clone Soundboard

Others have given nice tributes about Neil Peart, I would not be adding anything new with my opinion.
I bought my first DAT recorder in June of 1991, plus I was recording my own shows on DAT– this put me in some good tape trading company- lots of deadheads who also had killer old tapes of other bands, and the upper echelon of tapers at the time. There were a bunch of shows like these being traded around- it was a lot of fun back then… until the bootleggers started go press up CD’s.
