Glenn Danzig- WVVX Interview, Chicago Il 11/12/88 xfer from 1st gen audio cassette Misfits Samhain

I was going to post a Roky Erickson video for today’s On This Date in History to make up for the delay on the Patreon Voter’s Choice that Roky won (more on that later), but it was already out there. Sigh.
This one should appeal to the hardcore Danzig fans- I traded with someone in Chicago back in the 80s- they would send me those awesome WXRT live broadcasts and other cool stuff taped off the radio. This is one of those- a Danzig interview when he was “up and coming” according to the interviewer. Classic.

Naked Raygun- Metro, Chicago Il. 5/29/88 xfer from 2nd gen audio cassette Live- hardcore fans only

I had someone from the Naked Raygun: nrmy facebook group ask me to post this one. I warned them that it was terrible quality, but they wanted to hear it anyway. So, sorry about this one. This goes to show that I actually do have some quality control over here- I don’t post everything I digitize… unless someone REALLY wants it. 🙂
Oh, and it is incomplete.

Operation Ivy- Chicago, Il 4/10/88 xfer from low gen audio tape, audio only

Late post today- the lookout zoomout took more free time than I had today, but it was totally worth it!
Here’s another one that Todd Pritchard pulled out from Jason Ross’ collection when he was here in December of 2019. I thought that we (me and Anonymous) had all of the Operation Ivy audio tapes that were recorded, but Jason has a bunch of uncirculated stuff out of the midwest. This one doesn’t sound great, it is a typical punk rock audience tape made on non-professional gear. I tried to remix it to make it a little more listenable.

7 Seconds- Chicago, Il. 8/17/86 xfer from fair quality VHS tape Live The Metro?

Man, there are so many things wrong with this video and I spent way too much time trying to fix them. But it is one of my all time favorite sets by the band, and there are not many vids with this lineup. That looks like Joe Bansuelo on bass, and I don’t know on guitar.
So I got this in trade in the late 1980’s and back then, if you got a dub of a VHS tape that was remotely watchable it was amazing. I had a memory of the quality being WAY better on this until I popped it in to digitize it. Yikes. Plus, you have that superimposed “D” that is annoying as hell, which was on the source tape. The guy’s trade list had “D” in the comments and I was like “I wonder what that means”. OH.
I tried to fix the picture but it is way too overexposed. I remixed the audio and de-hum’d it in izotope and then it would not synch back up properly. So here it is, warts and all. No apologies- it is a great set.
