A little while back, Kaiden Skinner reached out to me to digitize some of his rare tapes. This was one of them. After seeing the price of these on discogs, I want to thank him for trusting me with these. Wow!
Here’s what Discogs has to say about this tape (lenghty)
Self-released cassette sold at early Ben Folds Five shows before their Caroline Records debut. No catalog number or barcode. Hand-folded printed card stock with logo used on many official releases.
“Jackson Cannery” is the version later released on the compilation Ben Folds Five – Naked Baby Photos.
“Jackson Cannery” and “Eddie Walker, This Is Your Life” were released alongside this tape in 1994 on the 7” single Ben Folds Five – Jackson Cannery.
“Boxing’s Been Good To Me” was previously released as an alternate mix on Ben Folds’ Nashville demo tape in 1991, Ben Folds – Ben Folds.
“The Last Polka,” “Where’s Summer B?,” and “I Don’t Miss Julianne,” are earlier recordings, not the ones on the Caroline debut CD. These versions were apparently unreleased other than this cassette.
