Kevn Kinney, Peter Buck and Friends- 40 Watt Club, Athens Ga 1/9/92 DAT Master Clone R.E.M. Live

When I first got my DAT decks in 1991/1992, there were maybe 5 people I knew to trade DATs with- a guy in Bend, Or (Dick Bell) with all kinds of cool 60s stuff, a Neil Young DAT trader, the JEMS guys, and Chuck Erb. Chuck taped this one- he was based in Atlanta and he would get inside info about secret R.E.M. happenings. He taped the R.E.M. 40 Watt show from 1992 as well.
Kevn Kinney from Drivin and Cryin and Peter Buck from R.E.M. made an album together (Macdougal Blues) and toured the US for it in 1990. Here is a one-off local show with all kinds of guests.

Recorded by: Chuck Erb
Equipment used: Portable DAT and I think he had Audio technica mics

Equipment used: Sony PCM-R500 and M-Audio Audiophile 2496 card

Kevn Kinney and Peter Buck- Paradise Lounge, San Francisco Ca 3/11/90

This show was a big thrill for me. My friend Matt Polish and I left Sacramento at about noon to ensure we got to the club for soundcheck. We were both big R.E.M. fans and I had the Macdougall Blues CD. It was the first time I met a big “rock star” and Peter was totally cool. I got the ok to film and perched myself on the balcony and got a pretty good shot. Audio for the show was synched by Sam Habash (Lammah). Thanks, Sam! Includes appearances by Nikki Sudden.

Equipment Used: Aiwa CV80 Camcorder

Additional help by: Sam Habash for the DAT soundboard synch
