Bad Religion- Musink Festival, OC Fairgrounds, Costa Mesa Ca 3/21/15 HD Multicam? Full Complete Show

Here’s a video for today’s “On This Day in History”.
I am a little confused with this one. My old friend Ryan McVay from Vulture Video sent us a couple of camera angles from this show to edit together, and this disc is labeled as a multicam. However, this looks like only 1 of the 2 camera angles. Maybe the other disc of this show in my collection was the multicam. Wouldn’t be the first time I made a mistake labeling discs. Oh well- I am taking the kids snow skiing today and leaving soon so this is what we all get.

Live Concert Video

Jeff Pezzati- Detroit Bar, Costa Mesa Ca 11/21/09 Acoustic Duo Digital Audio Master-CDR Naked Raygun

This one is a really cool rare solo performance from Jeff Pezzati of Naked Raygun. I checked around and this might be the only solo live performance he has ever done. He did release a solo EP which is great, I think that one is still on bandcamp… but this is the only solo performance I have ever heard of.

For years, I was totally puzzled as to why Jeff would be halfway across the country doing a solo set… then I read the taper’s notes. This was a benefit show put on by Joe Nelson, before he started Trust Records. It benefited The Eli Home, which is a shelter for abused mothers and their children. Wow. Just when you think you couldn’t love the guy any more and he does this.

You get 4 Raygun songs, 2 The Bomb songs, Mel Brooks, The Jam and New Order covers. Hot damn! I don’t know who the other guitarist is, other than it saying “the guitarist in The Bomb”. EDIT: Guitarist is Jeff Dean.

Audio Live Concert

Black Sabbath- Pacific Amphitheatre, Costa Mesa Ca 11/14/92 Audio xfer f/1st gen Sony WMD6C Cassette

Collections post first today- I had to go to Costco and have just started digitizing the On This Date video. Video takes about 2x as long as audio to digitize, transfer and denoise, so it’s gonna be a bit.
This concert is somewhat legendary and has been well circulated- it is the one where Dio refused to open for Ozzy Osbourne, so he left Black Sabbath.. again. Sabbath called up Rob Halford to help at the last minute. There is video of this performance on youtube.
What makes this post unique is that this is from a new source- Karl Lundmark was a prolific audio taper of the norcal metal shows in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Him and another one of the bootleg cowboys headed down to southern cal for this one. He had a pro walkman, which was one of the best decks you could find at the time.
There is a lot of crowd noise on the tape, but it still sounds great.

Neil Young- Pacific Coast Amphitheatre, Costa Mesa Ca 9/22/92 xfer f/DAT Master Solo Nakamichi CM300

Finally starting on today’s posts at 6pm! One more collections post to go tonight and the weekly Patreon $10 and up survey goes out before sleep. I did a lot of driving this weekend and came up with a good idea- this week and next, I will pull shows from my “no list”- These are recordings that were sensitive at one time, but some of the ones I taped are now ok to share, but not on the main list. There are still some that will never see the light of day. Sorry. This week will be “no list video” and next “no list audio”. Jump on the voting tier if you want a say.

I taped this one back in 1992 with the D3 DAT and a Nakamichi mic. That was my go-to through the early 90s. It is very dynamic- I did my best to level the music out, but crowd cheering peaks as a result.

Solo acoustic supporting the Harvest Moon album.
