Jonah Matranga, Allyson Seconds, David Houston, Kepi Ghoulie- Kevin Seconds- Side Door, Sac 12/23/22

There has been a wonderful annual tradition happening in Sacramento over the years- around Christmas, these fine musicians would gather on the same stage- and all play together. This used to happen on Christmas Eve and I was never able to make it due to other obligations. Last year, they moved it to the 23rd and I was finally able to go for the first time! It was so great- 2 hours and 40min of them having SO MUCH FUN. Each musician would start a song, and others sometimes join in if they know it.
It’s your lucky day- this show is happening again this year- on the 23rd (this coming Saturday) at the Side Door. Tickets are still available! Only $20!! I will post a link to buy ticket in my facebook post comments.
For now, here is an example of what you can expect- here is last year’s show. New surprises (and jokes!) every year.

Hellbound Pound- Cafe Colonial, Sacramento Ca 10/21/22 Multitrack Soundboard RIP Charlie Stratford

OK, Back to the Charlie Stratford benefit show. Hellbound Pound started playing shows this year from what I can tell, and is either from Richmond Ca (as one flyer states) or Stockton (as the Stratford Benefit flyer says). Dunno which one is right.

OK, Back once again to audio and the Charlie Stratford benefit show.
Not a lot of info about this band- it looks like they formed in 2020 and they are from the Sacramento area. I don’t know who is in the band.

The Vacant- Cafe Colonial, Sacramento Charlie Stratford Benefit Memorial 10/21/22 Multitrack sbd

I want to thank Jakobe Ares Moreno for sending across these multitrack stubs- we were expecting The Deathryders’ set to synch with video, but the file had the entire show! Thank to Matt from the Cafe for getting this all recorded for us.
Here is The Vacant’s set- Charlie was the drummer for the band until he passed away, so Roger and band performed with no drummer. Short set, but the best quality Vacant recording I have heard.
Flyer/poster by Paul Imagine. This was the uncolored draft, I’ll use the final version for the rest of the posts.
If you would like to contribute to Charlie’s gofundme for final expenses, I will add the link in facebook commments.

Warning Shot- Cafe Colonial, Sacramento Ca 10/21/22 Multitrack Soundboard RIP Charlie Stratford

Oh wow, I almost forgot to post today. Here is the last set from the Charlie Stratford benefit show.
This band appears to have no online presence. Brian Hanover mentioned that Dave Chavez (Verbal Abuse, Code of Honor) plays in the band. There is a Warning Shot based out of Yuba City, but they do not mention Dave and they do not mention playing this show… so I assume the Yuba City Warning Shot is the wrong one, and this one is from the bay area and are new.

Circle Jerks- Mohawk, Austin Tx 9/6/22 Audio only DPA4061 Mics

The very last post of the September Texas Tour is finally here, so you can finally be relieved of me going on and on about it. I had a flight out pretty early the next morning, so I was up at 6 or 7am walking to my car. I check my phone, and my flight has been cancelled. I had to scramble and get an indirect flight that landed me in Sac about 6 hours later than expected. So, I guess that southwest was up to shenanigans even before Christmas.
I was able to get pretty close to the PA this time, so this one sounds a lot better than night 1 at the mohawk. Actually, this is probably the best quality CJ recording of the tour.
The venue is awesome, everyone in Austin should make this place their main hangout. Great people, cheap drinks, excellent bands.

Circle Jerks- Mohawk, Austin Tx. 9/5/22 Audio Only DPA4061 mics incomplete

After 7 Seconds’ GREAT set (best of the Texas tour in my opinion), I had to get to the stage and tear down all of my gopros and the stands, and in the process I managed to misplace my monopod. Thankfully, it turned up the next day- that monopod ain’t cheap! I saw Kevin and Bobby out on the sidewalk outside of the venue, so I hung out and talked to them for a while after the show. By the time I went back in, Circle Jerks were already about halfway through their set and it was super packed in there so I could not get close enough to the PA main to make it sound good. Here’s what I got. It’s not bad.

Circle Jerks- White Oak Music Hall, Houston Tx 9/3/22 Audio Only DPA4061 Mics

Oh man, work is getting like it was a couple years ago- 8.5 hours of meetings today- 5 hours down so far. It’s going to make these daily posts challenging… and of course, when I need to create posts as quickly as possible, Youtube decides to stop processing my audio posts. After having this one bonk out about 5 times, I finally had to do it the old/hard way. I guess I’ll be working with YT tech support soon.
Anyway, here is the audio from the Circle Jerks Houston show. Video was not allowed, so I went ahead and used the ol’ DPA mics to get this one. This was the nicest venue of the tour and a sharp contrast from the (awesome) warehouse style San Antonio club. Meh, give me $7 beers and roll up doors over this fancy place and $15 beers. Anyway, it sounds pretty good because of the pristine sound system. I guess there are some benefits from going to a nice venue…

Addalemon- The Audio Nerd, Rocklin Ca. 7/23/22

Kurtis Bishop reached out to me on the sacmusicarchive’s website email and let me know that he audio taped the Audio Nerd show last weekend. It’s nice to have another taper in town, and it is nice to finally hear addalemon. I am a sucker for pop punk so I’ll try to catch them at a show.

Also nice to have a recording from The Audio Nerd- good store and Steve is a good guy.
