Sepultura- Arco Arena, Sacramento Ca 7/14/94 xfer from 8mm master Enhanced

Let’s make this a Gary Shurtleff (posts from my YT channel) and Terry O’Reilly (linked posts to sacramento music archive dot com) weekend.
Here is one of Gary’s. You can see a lot more of his work on his channel- “fromthenosebleeds”. He generously gave me the OK to post Sacramento related stuff he shot. Thanks Gary! I never enjoyed shooting arenas, I have always been more of a small club kind of guy, so I appreciate his work.
Here is Sepultura, Opening for Pantera at Arco. Full set.

Pantera- Arco Arena, Sacramento Ca 7/14/94 xfer from master tape enhanced

Here’s another master from Gary (fromthenosebleeds) that I digitized recently, then degrained. Man, he has a ton of Pantera shows. I think I did about 15 Pantera shows for him. Here is the earliest Sacramento show that he shot- from 1994 with Sepultura and Prong opening. Thanks Gary!

Luna- Coach House, San Juan Capistrano Ca. 7/13/94 Direct transfer from Hi8 Master!

Well, I wish I had an interesting anecdote about this show, but all I recall is that Dean allowed me to shoot from the balcony which is reserved for bands, and that he was very gracious. Otherwise, I’ve got nothing. I am sure it was a good show, but coming off the casbah show the night before meant about 3 hours sleep for me, then this show. Enjoy! Filmed with Sony TR81 and stock mic. Check out the raging seated dinner theater crowd.

Well, I wish I had an interesting anecdote about this show, but all I recall is that Dean allowed me to shoot from the blacony which is reserved for bands, and that he was very gracious. Otherwise, I’ve got nothing. I am sure it was a good show, but coming off the casbah show the night before meant about 3 hours sleep for me, then this show. ENjoy! Luna- The Casbah, San Diego Ca. 7/12/94 xfer from hi8 master w/DAT Audio

My old Sony TR-81 was a great camcorder for its’ time- hi8 stereo recording and excellent low light capability.. but the stock microphone was horrible and would distort with any volume. I happened to record the Luna Casbah show with my DAT machine, and Derek Purtell has been kind enough to sync them together for me. Thanks also to Pete Markall for watching the DAT machine in the back, and being my go-to concert buddy in san diego!

Propaghandi- Lyn’s Farm,Kaukauna Wi 7/10/94 xfer f/master VHS tape Enhanced

Jason Ross sent me a lot of his master VHS tapes a few years back and I digitized them soon after I received them. I didn’t post many at the time and once I started posting them, I would do a quick check to see if it was already posted. If it was, I wouldn’t bother putting up a duplicate post. This “On This Date in History” project has me taking a closer look at these. The one that was uploaded years ago is in 240p and you can’t see much. I went ahead and did a fresh transfer on the good setup- this one should be much clearer/better! Thanks Jason!
I still find it amusing that punk bands would play on a farm in Wisconsin.

Beastie Boys- Lollapalooza, Sam Boyd Stadium, Las Vegas, NV. (Maybe) 7/7/94 xfer f/low gen VHS tape

I don’t think I have shared this but I am digitizing ALL of Todd Nakamine’s VHS tapes. Even stuff like Welcome Back Kotter and Soap.. every. single. one. That was part of the deal to get all of this great stuff. Anyway, there was a tape in there labeled “Beastie Boys Vegas” and I do a quick google search and see that they played a set in 2004 for MTV and the $2 bill show, so I figured that’s what it was… and then I hit play. If the Las Vegas label is right, this seems to be a not-on-youtube video of their LV stop on the Lollapalooza 94 tour. Hot damn!

The camerawork is comically bad to start but it settles down. Fans will enjoy this one I think.
