I could not believe NWOBHM legends played the tiny Blue Lamp in Sacramento. Even more surprising was the turnout- maybe 100 people showed up. What a bummer for them. Regardless, they put on a good show. Very energetic. Thanks to Bong for editing this together for me, despite not being a metal fan.

Here is the last metal-focused post for On This Date in History for now. Don’t worry, there are thousands more tapes of metal over here. I have not even picked out the one for tomorrow, so who knows.
Anyway, I used to trade with a guy in Detroit who had a bunch of awesome stuff. We traded audio and video in the late 80s and I got this from him. I think he taped these off the radio, but I am not sureā¦
I don’t know what the deal was with the live metal FM broadcasts, but they were always super muddy sounding, at least to start. I think the station tried to matrix together the board with some audience mics, and it turned into this. It gets a bit better a few minutes in. Full 90 minute set from the Stay Hard tour.

I was trying to decide between this show or a Slayer show that Tour Manager Doug taped⦠then I saw that it was John Gallagher’s birthday yesterday, so Raven it is! I am a huge fan of early Raven, so this is awesome. This is another show that I would have attended if I was just a year or 2 older. I could not find any images related to the show, so I decided to use this flyer from their appearance at the Record Exchange in Walnut Creek the next day. Man, I loved that store. I spent so much of my money there when I was a teenager. They would send me a box of records in the mail C.O.D. (cash on delivery for you youngsters). You would then pay the mail carrier for the items. Wild man, Wild! This one sounds pretty damned good, post-EQ. Thanks Doug!!
