Thanks to a kind benefactor, we now have transfers of about 30 “Sacto Active Rock” episodes straight from the VHS masters that were taped off of cable. I will post these as time allows.
After they ended the Tombstone Blues set, the band took about a 1 minute break and played a 45 minute ghoulies set. It was so much fun- you will hear a “clink” and a dropout at about 11:30 into the recording. The deck & mic fell off of the heater and hit Kevin Scott in the head. Sorry!
This whole night was fuzzy, but I remember the tiny house (700 sq ft) being WAY too packed with 100+ people, I remember getting way too drunk and being hung over for 2 days after for the first (and only) time ever, and I remember my band playing a song without rehearsal for the first time in 5 years(that was not recorded). I also remember the cops coming, and kicking people out so I could sleep.
Recorded by: Shayne Stacy, on top of wall heater in the house (FOH)
Equipment used: Sony TCD-D10 & Nakamichi CM-300 Mic
Remember when I mentioned that I started transferring all of my DATs, starting with #1 and working my way forward? That was when I posted that D.I. Cattle Club show. Well, I got sidetracked as usual. Here is the other show on DAT #1- a Groovie Ghoulies opening set with the old L.A.-based version of the band. The mix wasn’t perfect, so I did what I could to fix it in Izotope.

Equipment used: Sony TCD-D3 through soundboard; Sony PCMR500 and M-Audio Audiophile card
Rebalance in Izotope: +5 Bass, +2 Percussion, +6 Other(guitar)
Here’s the Groovie Ghoulies “Classic Lineup”, opening for the dickies in 1991. Eric Bianchi, I am not using “Original Lineup”. 🙂 Taped with the old Aiwa CV-80 with a Sony ECM-909 mic velcro’d to the top.

Equipment Used: Aiwa CV80 Sony ECM909
Here is one of only a few videos I filmed with the original lineup. Kepi on drums/vocals! Filmed with Aiwa CV80 and Sony ECM909 mic. SO MUCH FUN to watch. Glammy Ghoulies!

This was my first time seeing the ghoulies. and they did not disappoint! This is with the old lineup(pre-Roach!).

Here is one from the HOLY SHIT file- who filmed this? How did this guy (with no apparent connection to Sacramento) get it? Who knew that ARC even had rock shows?
Anyway, here is the 2nd oldest GG video on youtube. I filmed them for the first time the following month opening for the Hard-ons.

These next videos are ones that I (nor Jim, Zoran etc) filmed. Since Groovie Ghoulies were based in Sacramento (and Kepi went to high school with me), they get posted. Here is a CLASSIC multicam of an early incarnation of the band, when they were based in L.A. That hair is amazing.
