Bold- Locker Room, Garden Amphitheater, Garden Grove Ca 6/22/25 Big Frank Memorial 4K UHD NYHC SXE

Since I discovered that the Econochrist video post from this morning has already been posted by the taper, let’s do this collections one and then another On This Day that I am sure isn’t out there.

This is a long story that I’ll get into some other time, but I drove to Southern Cal to see this show, the Cro-Mags Alex Bar show, and get a bunch of studio equipment repaired. The memorial had 2 stages- the big stage you usually see in photos and videos, and then this tiny building called the Locker Room. I have multiple cameras from the main stage, but there was no breaks in between sets so it was impossible to lug a multicam setup between stages and catch everything. I did 2 bands in the Locker Room with the G9ii and Schoeps. Here’s the first of them- I think Bold reunited because of this memorial and ended up playing a run of shows out here. I am standing at the back of the room- that’s how small it was.

Busy day today, so today’s On This Date in History is going to be late. Veerrry late.
Here is the collections post, from me.
DFL came through Sac back in June for the first time in forever and they were nice enough to allow us to film a multicam. It turned out pretty nice!

The Government- 924 Gilman, Berkeley Ca 5/17/25 4K Master Santa Cruz Punk

Going FIFO and clearing out all of my master tapes that have backed up a bit. This is the 2nd time I had seen The Government- the first being back when Phono Select was still putting on shows. I think the band is from the Santa Cruz area. I got to the venue right when they were setting up, so the set cuts in but it is pretty close to complete.

I also have multitrack audio but that takes a ton of work on a different PC so unless someone really needs to hear that, it will sit in the archives.

Equipment used: Panasonic Lumix G9ii w/Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 12-60mm F/2.8-4 ASPH lens; I think Audio from Rode Videomic Pro Stereo- it might just be the stock mic on the camera

7 Seconds- 924 Gilman, Berkeley Ca 5/17/25 4K UHD Multicam w/ Multitrack Audio Hardcore Punk Kevin

One from my collection this evening. 7 Seconds played a couple shows back in May. Shortly before the shows were happening, Steve broke his wrist, so Bobby Jordan (The Knockoffs, Go National, Red Star Memorial, MTX, lots more) filled in on bass with only 1 week’s notice and 1 rehearsal. Talk about a herculean task. Well done.

The first night at Harlows was the better show in my opinion, but this one sounds a LOT better. Unfortunately, Gilman decided to turn on these new LED lights which made getting a decent video picture pretty much impossible. I tried to compensate with my monopod angle by adjusting ISO and exposure, but it still looks odd. The gopros totally freaked out, especially on Bobby’s side. Sorry about that.

But it sounds fantastic!

The Snobs- Harlow’s, Sacramento Ca 5/16/25 4K UHD Master w/schoeps audio

It’s another late night post! If I told you what happened today, you wouldn’t believe me so let’s get to the video.

This is the last set from the 5/16/25 Harlow’s show. It took me a while because the board recording was completely brickwalled. After dicking around with it for way too long, I just went with the schoeps audio. You can hear the vocals peaking on this audience recording, too. Still sounds decent.

Whorified- Harlow’s, Sacramento Ca 5/16/25 4k UHD Master w/Schoeps Soundboard Matrix Audio Punk

Collections post from my collection today. Yep, I am still working through video masters from last May. Seems like we should speed up these collections posts or something (hint, hint).

Whorified opened the 7 Seconds show at Harlow’s last year. The band includes Allyson Seconds’ niece Frankie Cerrato on vocals. You can see Allyson filming the band up front. I was clearly still getting my act together when they started their set, so the audio on this is very heavy on vocals since the soundboard was vocal heavy. I didn’t turn my mics on until about a minute in.

7 Seconds- Harlow’s, Sacramento Ca 5/16/25 4K UHD Multicamera w/ Sbd Schoeps Matrix Audio Hardcore

Collections post first today- I didn’t realize that the On This Date wasn’t tee’d up for me to post, so that one (and maybe Patreon Voter’s Choice!) later today.

I mentioned this when I posted the 7 Seconds Gilman show (from the night after this) about a month ago- if you want great audio, check that one out. If you want a better performance, better lighting and active crowd, check this one out. Even though I was taping with the Schoeps and I had the board recording, I could not get this to sound really good. I mean it sounds pretty good, but I wanted it to be better.

This was Bobby’s first show on short notice when Steve broke his wrist. Great job.

Even though the show wasn’t sold out like the one at Harlow’s a couple years back, the crowd was clearly enjoying every minute. It’s a fun watch. I like this one more because of that. Check the crowd for your friends, haha.

Kill the Precedent- Harlow’s, Sacramento Ca 5/16/25 4K UHD video w/Schoeps/Soundboard Matrix Audio

Alright, I need to admit something. I have been seeing this band since 2012 and I never really cared for them. I don’t know if it was JT’s sound at this show or what, but it finally clicked with me. They kicked ass- the chunky metal guitar along with the industrial themes are really great. Sorry guys, I was an idiot.
I tried my best to get the guitar I heard i the room, in the mix here. It didn’t quite get there but I did my best. Go see them- you won’t be sorry.

R.K.L.- Punk in the Park, Cow Palace, Daly City Ca. 5/3/25 7 camera Multicam w/Multitrack Audio 4K

Since the video transfer setup is still being worked, let’s clear out some of these master videos. This one is a really nice one to brighten up your Monday. It was a team effort between Shawn Biggs, who got me and Guerin access to the show. Guerin supplied most of the angles here, I think Shawn had some gopro angles and mixed the multitrack, and I had the 2 G9ii angles. Turned out really nice.

The Queers- Punk in the Park, Cow Palace, Daly City Ca 5/3/25 4K UHD Master Partial Ramones Cover

Since it seems that everyone is spending time watching the Op Ivy video I just posted, let’s do this short one for the collections post today. I actually forgot that I even had this and I was archiving footage to blu ray and I was like “what the hell is this” haha.

I left home as early as I could because I wanted to see The Queers set. OF COURSE I hit brutal traffic and missed most their set. a 2.5 hour drive turned into 3.5 or 4 hours. I was scrambling around the front and the backstage area after I got there while the queers played, trying to find the person with my video credential. By the time I got that sorted, I got 2 minutes of the set. I was bummed.
