D.I.-Goldfield Trading Post Sacramento Ca 6/28/24 4K UHD Multicam w/Schoeps Matrix Audio Casey Royer

D.I. finally made it back to Sacramento- first time since 2017 if I recall correctly. Big Jay was the man to bring the band to town back then, and they had not been back after he passed (RIP my friend).
The funny thing is that during that last Sacramento show at the Cafe Colonial, I called Trevor a fill in guitar player. Little did I know that he was permanent and he kicks ass. Now you sometimes have Clinton, sometimes Trevor, and sometimes both if you are lucky. The band has a new drummer as well- long time drummer Joe Tatar retired from drumming and Eddie’s nephew (Joe’s son? not clear) now drums for the band- keeping it in the family! He also kicks ass.
The club was totally cool with me rolling in late, getting a soundboard patch, and setting up the 4 cameras. Thanks to the staff- it’s nice when it is smooth.
My only complaints were with the vocals both in the club and in the board mix. No matter what I did, I could not get vocal clarity, which is important for a D.I. gig. The other minor complaint is the length of set- the band has literally dozens of great songs- they could play 70 minutes easy and I would be happy. Maybe the set was short (and almost the same from 7 years ago) due to the new drummer. Not a huge deal- it was a great time. Crowd wasn’t bad either, considering that the N-Men party was happening at the same time across town.

Pure Trash- Little Hill Lounge, El Cerrito Ca 6/22/24 4K UHD Master Rode Audio Creedence Clearwater

What a busy day. I need to jam on this post to get it in today. Pure Trask opened the Civil War Rust show last month and pulled out a Creedence cover. I got a little too excited about them doing this in El Cerrito.

Civil War Rust- Little Hill Lounge, El Cerrito Ca 6/22/244K UHD Multicam w/Schoeps Audio Rebalanced

Civil War Rust had not played a show in over a year and I think this was only their 2nd show since the pandemic, so Cory and I decided that it was a good idea to get our asses to the show. Good thing we did, because Sean (Bass/Vocals for this show) lives out of state now. They happened to play this show since they were recording a new album this weekend.
It seems that this Little Hill Lounge is a new place for east bay indie and punk shows. The place had a great 40’s jazz bar vibe and the drinks were super cheap. The tiny performance area is in the very back of the long bar- you can’t even tell it is there when you walk in.
The band was good, especially considering their long layoff. The high(low)light of the night was someone sh*tting their pants during the encore, and then blaming Cory for it. It cleared the room in seconds, and there I was, breaking down camera equipment in the brown cloud. It was brutal.
