Here’s another late post for you today. Our beloved guinea pig, Marley passed away today. This was my 9 year old’s first experience with losing a pet and he took it pretty hard. They plan to build a nice little memorial for him in the back yard, so that’s nice. Here is one from Anonymous 2’s mother lode of Sacramento demos (and more). Snubnose were from Pollock Pines and you can see the members/track list on the J-card there. I’m willing to bet that L. Ron Drunkard is not his real name- anyone know who that is?

It’s Monday and it has been too long since we have seen something from Eggplant’s collection. Here is a rarity. For Peace featured Lucky Dog (Fifteen, No Dogs, Crummy Musicians, many more) and Jean Repetto (East Bay Mud, Fifteen, more). I can’t find any official releases aside from the photo I am using for this recording. The mix changes quite a bit throughout the recording, which makes it difficult to rebalance or improve, so here it is in all of it’s rawness.

No Dogs guitarist Troy Peters left and was replaced by Jean. Most of these songs are from that band though Scabs, Mordred, Buddy Holly were brought in by Jean. It sounds like Mike Taylor is still on drums here…soon replaced by Mark Moreno. Not long after singer Todd Pond left and that’s how we ended up with East Bay Mud. Also the new name allowed for a shift away from thrash punk to “melodic punk…funk” or whatever you wanna call what that band did. Todd later played in bands with suspect names like “Mommie’s Friend” & “Green Dave”. He’s always been a wild ass funny guy. The shave off the eyebrows kinda guy Also i would caution people sourcing dates of shows from the internet. Not all of that is accurate. Even the superb record of shows you can find on The List doesn’t take into account the often cancellation of bands, jump-ons etc. It was very popular in the 90’s for bands at Gilman to make a surprise appearance using another band’s equipment on stage…..or play on the floor between bands…. or the bathroom, the store.

Here is another Steve Rogers video, this one from Raleigh NC. Man, that American Recordings travel budget must have been sweet in the heyday of alt/grunge. Haha.
Edit: This was from the Raleigh hotel in Miami, same time frame as the slayer/etc respectable cafe show. This one is filmed outdoors with an odd effect that is present on the source video. As the sun sets, the the effect gets more prominent. If there is interest, I could enhance/brighten this in a couple of batches to make the end of the set more watchable.

Here’s another gem from Brian McKenna’s endless box of stuff. I compared these tracks with the official release on the band’s bandcamp page, and they sound like totally different versions. They are a different mix at minimum. Great band, bummed I never got to see them.

Wahzoo was a short-lived band from Sacramento in the mid-90s. They consisted of:
Bill Heston- guitar,
Dan Yoas- drums,
Rick Bowersock- bass and vocals. Rick has also played with RKL and Stalag 13 (must be an Oxnard native).

Here’s another one from Eddie’s collection. God Squad were a mid-90s Sacramento band. The odd thing about this one is that this tape is labeled “Sampler”. Cassette samplers were typically distributed by record labels and featured a couple songs from a full-length release. I don’t see any full-length releases on Discogs.

Here is another one from my Vermont friend’s collection. When he sent me his notes about the tapes a while back, he did not even mention that Trey from Phish was involved with this one. Maybe be of interest to Phish fans. The band also ran in the same circles as weirdo rock legend James Kochalka.

Here is the last Secret Center post for now. I know I promised posts for the rest of the week, but I blew it early by posting 2 in one day because I had to hide/post the No Kill I tape unnanounced. Anyway, this is the tape I have been trying to find for years. I owe the secret center guys a huge thanks, and I even got a personalized, colored Yahtzee card. Nice! Features a ton of bands as shown in the image. I was looking for the Knockoffs and Nar songs specifically, but all of the bands are great.
