Buffalo Tom- Magasinet, Goteborg Sweden 3/14/92 Xfer from DAT Master Clone Soundboard FM

Since most of these “On This Day in History” posts come from my collection, you are going get a heavy dose of bands I like, since I have a ton of recordings of them.
This Buffalo Tom show comes from a Swedish radio broadcast and it seems that they only aired 30min of the set. That’s too bad, since it sounds amazing.
I tried to look up Magasinet and all I could find was an outdoor dining area. That’s not the venue, is it? If anyone has any info about the venue, please let me know.

F.S.K.- Emo’s, Austin Tx. 3/14/92 xfer from 1st gen cassette D6 Pro Walkman David Lowery Cracker

Here’s something of interest to Cracker/Camper ven Beethoven fans- a tape recorded by my friend Craig at SXSW in 1992. David Lowery joined forces with German alternative new wave polka band FSK at the time and an early version of the song “Dr. Bernice” is on a FSK CD. Anyway, here is FSK with Lowery.
Craig also recorded FSK/Lowery on Mountain Stage radio show and it doesn’t appear to be on YT yet. If this isn’t enough FSK, let me know.

Redrum- Melarkey’s, Sacramento Ca. 3/13/92 Xfer from master Audience Audiotape Sacto Thrash Metal

This one was a request from Gus Buss (Jeff) and Mike Parisi. I have a DAT soundboard tape and this audience recording. The board tape is really bizarre- the mix is not great and there are surges of reverb that cause the volume peaks to overload on my DAT- I have never seen anything like it before. So, instead of the board tape I am uploading the better sounding audience tape for now.
I’ll try to matrix the board and audience tapes sometime in the future- I have figured out a way to time align via pluraleyes, but I need to jump through hoops. No time for that now.

James- Opera House, Toronto Canada 3/8/92 Xfer from Pre-FM Soundboard DAT Clone Laid

It’s the Patreon voter’s choice post of the week!

I decided to have some fun these past couple weeks and look through my “don’t trade” lists for anything I taped that is no longer sensitive, or ones where the statute of “no trade” limitations expired! Haha. Some of my friends (like KN and GD) will be forever “No Trade” at their request, but I can pick out a few to share.

I don’t recall where this one came from, but it sounds fantastic. There is a shorter, muddier sounding FM broadcast of this show but this one is perfect! No annoying FM compression.

If you want to join the voting party, hit up the patreon in comments. This week will be “pick an Aftershock fest day 1 video”- that vote starts late tonight or tomorrow. Next week will probably be more no list audio.

I am clearly having too much fun with this.

Here’s yet another Uncle Tupelo soundboard from the band’s archive. This is from a short run of shows opening for Teenage Fanclub. The date was unknown for years(estimated at 2/02), but we were able to pinpoint the date since.

Great set. I love when they play “I Found That Essence Rare” by Gang of Four.

Uncle Tupelo- Toad’s Place, New Haven CT 3/2/92 Audio Soundboard xfer band archive Teenage Fanclub

Here’s a special one. Uncle Tupelo toured with Teenage fanclub for a string of dates in early 1992. These shows are pretty well documented. For example, there is video of this set available on youtube. I still need to compare the copy I have against what has been posted.
Anyway, this was the last show of the tour and TFC come up on stage to play “I wanna be your dog” with UT. Cool stuff.

Setlist:
