Slambodians- Mabuhay Gardens, San Francisco Ca 8/9/87 xfer f/ master VHS tape Thrash Crossover Metal

TLDR Version: Please like and share every single youtube post I make. on youtube.Thanks.

Before I get to the details- here is a story and an assignment for you.
Early last year, I posted a Slambodians video from 924 Gilman from Chris Eng’s collection. It got about 100 views if I remember correctly, which is about what I expected. Then, a couple months later, I post a Slambodians video from Sproul Plaza in Berkeley and it gets 15,000 views. WHY?

It has to do with YouTube’s algorithms. When people like and share a post often enough when it is first posted, the Algo tips and YT shoot is out to tons of people as a recommended watch. I guess people thought the name was funny, shared it around and 15,000 people ended up watching it.

So if you want to help the Sac Music Archive and you don’t have the money to support the patreon, please help by liking and sharing. It’s a huge visibility boost.

This is another Slambodians video from Chris Eng’s collection. Nice quality for 1987. The stage was very spotty, lighting wise so I kept it as it was shot- over exposed in spots, dark in others.

Thanks Chris for all of these early SF/East Bay videos. This is almost a year before I bought my first camera.

Slambodians-924 Gilman 6/27/87 xfer from Master VHS Tape w/unknown band start Crossover Thrash Metal

I fired up the VHS digitizing setup and started back up on Chris Eng’s tapes this week. There is about 2min of an unknown band to start this tape (forgot to trim)- if anyone knows who it is, let me know.
Then, the legendary Slambodians. I think this is the first demo lineup of Eric Johnson/Wayne Park/James Pittman/Aaron Crozier/Chris Giese, but not 100% sure. East bay crossover/thrash metal- the band played quite a few shows in the late 80s.

Slambodians- Sproul Plaza, Berkeley Ca 4/11/87 xfer from master VHS tape East Bay Punk

It’s Friday! Happy Friday you all. Let’s start the weekend off with a video from Chris Eng’s collection. This is the last set from the legendary show there. SEVEN bands set up, guerilla style and pulled off a day of punk rock without getting shut down by campus or berkeley pd. Amazing! Also amazing is the fact that Chris was able to film all 7 bands. Video equipment was bulky and heavy and battery packs cost a small fortune in the 80s. Kudos to Chris for filming these.
With my “1 a day” posting approach, it took me SEVEN WEEKS to get through this one tape of Chris’. He has hundreds of tapes to do. There are at least 6 or 7 people’s collections here to do, along with my own. Something’s gotta give. Would you all like to see multiple posts per day, if I can pull it off time-wise? It’s the only way to get through all of these.
