Judge- 924 Gilman, Berkeley Ca. 12/8/19 4K UHD Rode Videomic Pro Stereo

This is 1 angle out of 4 that will be edited together later. This video is not great for watching on its own since it is so close up, but this is in 4K and the edit will be in 1080p so I thought some people might like to see it.

While I was videotaping the show, I get a message from Alex Botkin that Murray Bowles had passed away. This was a major shock- Murray had recently moved to Sacramento and I would see him at shows all the time. I saw him last week and he seemed fine. I still can’t believe it.

When I would go to Gilman in the early days (starting in 1988) to videotape, Murray was already legendary. So much so, that I was a bit intimidated to approach him… so I didn’t. It wasn’t until he moved to Sac that I got to know him and learned what everyone else has said- he was totally cool and down to earth. I was looking forward to hanging with him at shows for years to come.

Judge- 924 Gilman, Berkeley Ca. 12/8/19 4 Camera multicam w/Matrix Audio NYHC Punk Lumix GH5S

Ah, this one turned out WAY better than the Judge Gilman multicam from a few years ago. Thanks to the Gilman volunteers for fixing the lighting in there! The video would have been even better, but something funny happened. I started up my gopros and was told that the band wasn’t going to start for about 30min, so I shut them down again… and then they started their set early! I was scrambling, trying to get all of the gopros started and I could not start up the drum one.. and I was starting to get in Walter’s way, so I had to get the F off the stage. Haha! So it starts a little weak, with 1 obstructed angle to start. It kicks in and is good about a minute or 2 in, until I start filming from my normal sport in back.

I was filming this show when news of Murray Bowles’ passing came through. R.I.P. Murray.
