Alright, this one is a bit weird and personal so bear with me. My mom passed away on 8/11/06 after a year-plus “battle” with cancer(I hate that term). I was her only child so I had the responsibility of caring for her and arranging care, plus I was a single dad AND working in tech. I didn’t sleep much from 2005-2006 for sure. Huge thanks to my family (especially Aunt Terri) or there was no way I could have done it.
My life was consumed with Mom, work and caring for the kids and then it was just… over, overnight. Kids went to their mom’s, and the next day I was sitting at home (in Orangevale) not wanting to be alone. So I went to this show. I still remember me being a bit numb and seeing friends I had not seen for a while. They asked how I was doing and I would say (with eyes glazed over, zombie like) “my mom died yesterday”. I should probably apologize to Kepi and the rest for that. Haha.
Anyway, this is the last time I got to see the Ghoulies. They play a bunch of songs in this set that I have never heard them play elsewhere.
One last thing- the Groovie Ghoulies have partnered with Anxious and Angry (GREAT shirt/music shop in the midwest) to re-issue some of their shirts! I don’t think they are out yet, but you might want to follow them for updates. I have bought a lot of stuff from A&A over the years, great folks.
