Sow Belly- Max’s, Eugene Or 2/15/92 xfer from 8mm master tape enhanced

It feels like I have been posting stuff from Craig’s collection for a year now, and it has taken about that long to get it all posted- he filmed a lot back in the 90’s!
This is the 2nd and last video of Sow Belly. This one looks to be the full hour-long set and it sounds pretty good. No distortion!! Thanks Craig for filming and trusting me with your collection.

Nuisance- 924 Gilman, Berkeley Ca 2/12/92 xfer from 1st gen soundboard cassette Lookout Records

I tried to find any audio or video from this band online and I can’t find any at all. It’s kinda hard to search for them and all I found were studio releases online. So, this might be really rare to find something live from them, even if it is only 10min long. Nuisance released 2 full length albums on Lookout records, 1991’s Confusion Hill and 1993’s Sunny Side Down. From Robert Eggplant’s collection.

Rebalance in Izotope Rx8: Vocal +3, Bass +5, Guitar +8. Let me know if I overdid it.

Metallica- Forum, Inglewood Ca 2/12/92 Complete show Lossless xfer from 8mm master

Here’s another Metallica video from Barry Goldstein. I posted his Metallica from January 1992 a couple weeks back. The timing of these shows is confusing. So, Metallica played in January and then came back to the same venue a month later? I have never heard of such a thing unless it was a make-up date due to cancellation.
This one seems to be shot a bit closer than the January one. I denoised this one but it is still a bit grainy. I didn’t want to overprocess it and make it look like one of those blurred over selfies folks post.
YT’s ridiculous AI identified a few songs as being officially released (from totally different venues and dates!) so I had to trim them out in order to unblock this one. So, if you see cuts, that’s why.

Redrum- Coconut Teazer, Los Angeles Ca 2/9/92 from band VHS tape enhanced Sacramento Thrash Metal

Another video from Mike Parisi’s bag of VHS tapes. This one comes from the band’s brief reunion in early 1992 w/Don Adams. They played this show and Melarkey’s in Sac, and I think that was about it. I think this was filmed by Scott Capizzano- the tape says “slam cam” on it, so I’m running with it. This is one of the nicer quality redrum videos.
I hope the surviving members of the band (and Robbie, who was travelling with them) don’t mind that I included the pre and post-show footage. There is some really nice footage of Don Adams and Mike Caboy. R.I.P. guys.

Rancid- 924 Gilman, Berkeley Ca 2/8/92 xfer f/master soundboard cassette 1st show ever East Bay Punk

Another Monday where I am unprepared to post. That warrants a dip into Radley’s folder of goodies…
This one is labeled as Rancid’s first show ever. I can’t find a flyer online for a show at Gilman on 2/8/92. The mix and levels start off low, then jump up at the 1:40 mark. You will hear a little dip and rise in the levels- that was my attempt at a seamless vol adjustment. Eh, close enough.
No need for a rebalance, really nice mix.

Thin White Rope- Last US Show, Cattle Club Sacramento 2/7/92 Pt. 1

This is probably my best TWR Cattle video. The lighting was way better than any of the others. They were so loud that my Sony ECM909 mic was having issues early in the set. I thought that the problems persisted throughout the set, but they didn’t. I never watched this because I thought the audio was screwed up, but it turned out ok! Watch from part 3 forward if you want to get decent audio. I also have a DAT soundboard of the show but the mix is almost all vocals (because of the volume). Anyway, enjoy. Looking back, I was pretty lucky to be at TWR’s last show in the USA.

This is part 1 only- you can find the rest of the show on Youtube

Thin White Rope- Cattle Club, Sacramento Ca. 2/7/92 DAT Master xfer Soundboard Last US Show Ever

TWR were so loud at this show that the Sony mic that I had velcro’d to my camcorder stopped working properly- I had to replace it. Maybe it had nothing to do with the volume, but it was insanely loud. The board mix was almost completely Drum and Vocal. I really had to push the processing of this one and I think it sounds weird. Hopefully you will like it. I might synch this up with the video at some point. It’s worth a listen just for historical purposes, since it was their last show before the final Euro tour.
Drums drop in the mix at about 12:45 to a reasonable level.

Meat Puppets- Cruise Cafe, Oslo Norway 2/6/92 xfer from 3rd gen soundboard cassette complete show

I usually would not mess around with a 3rd gen soundboard tape of a taper-friendly band, but this one is an exception because 1) The performance absolutely rips 2) it still sounds great with minimal hiss 3) it is not available anywhere else and 4) I think my friend KN got it from legendary Meat Puppets soundman/Black Flag roadie, Davo. He would tape all of the shows and give some of us (KN, Jon Vogel, etc) copies of the best ones.

So that’s why I picked this for On This Day in History. Look at that setlist. HIGHLY Recommended as a wonderful escape to current events.

Cramps- Dallas, Tx. 2/5/92 Unknown gen VHS xfer Live full show

Sorry about the quality on this one. I wouldn’t normally post something like this, but it was requested from someone (I won’t name them) and I had no time to pretty anything up today.
Here’s why he requested it:
“I was at that show and tripping hard on acid. I remember it as a fantastic show. I’d like to confirm that.”
So, please report back and let us know.

Mojo Nixon and Eugene Chadbourne- Casbah, San Diego Ca 2/2/92 xfer from 1st gen audio cassette

oh wow, this one appears to be a rarity. There is one from 2/21 on the Internet Archive, but after listening to the intro and part of the first song of each, this appears to be a different show. This is Mojo and Eugene sharing a stage and playing 1 of 2 known shows together.
I used to trade with a couple of folks in San Diego who I met face to face, then did some trades. One person was John Bernat, but I don’t think he taped this one. The other person was Mark I think. If anyone knows the taper’s name, please remind me and I will give him credit.
