Here is the famous (to us anyway) Guy Kyser naked show. This is a new transfer rendered at full quality so hopefully you will be able to see a difference in quality. Thanks to Robert Toren.

Thanks to Jed & Stephen at the Davis 80s music group for the help in ID’ing the bands. Thanks to Robert Toren for trusting me with his master tape. Enjoy! PS: yes, it is only about 1 minute long.

Here is the “famous” TWR show where Guy is naked throughout the performance. I have increased brightness and exposure & de-noised with Adobe Premiere Elements/Neat Video. Thanks to Robert Toren for loaning me the master tape to transfer, and for his excellent camera work! Well done!

Man, this one is hard to watch. I have only lost 1 of my master tapes and it was this one. If anyone happens to see an 8mm videotape with This, Dehumanizers from Danceteria in sac, and Flower Leperds from Gilman (all in August of 1988), please let me know. REWARD OFFERED. This fair quality/generated footage exists because Jesse Davis was kind enough to dig it out of a box of old VHS tapes he traded for, years ago. Thank you!
Anyway, Matt Polish was friends with the band and we had hung out with/partied with/chauffeured the band many times so hanging backstage was common… but this was the first time I had my NEW video camera, so we were all screwing around with it backstage. I was planning on filming from the stage, but KERRY knew I was a tape trader and told his security to not let me film. GRRR

This was requested by Zoran. I am the guy in the white Adrenalin O.D. shirt
This is a pretty unique show- Bobby’s guitar was not getting power for a good portion of the set, so the rest of the band did a bunch of dub versions of the song with the crowd singing along. I love spontaneous moments like these. The power loss/singalong starts at about 5min in. The crowd just keeps going when Kevin’s mic loses power as well. SO cool.
This was filmed by my good friend Jim Utz. Like I have mentioned before, cameras, tapes and batteries were super expensive back then (that’s why there are not a ton of opening band videos). Jim would record the master on a VHS-C tape and transfer it to VHS, then record another show on the VHS-C tape. So, this is a transfer from the lowest surviving copy of the show.

I thought that I had a soundboard tape of this show, so I prepped it all up to send it to kingbean… and no board tape. I have the night before, but not this. The source audio is hot garbage so I tried to fix it up a little. Looks great, sounds meh.

Here is the next one from Russ Gibb- I posted the ALL set last week, here is the Doughboys set. Who is that talking about a lawyer at the end of the set? Is that Smalley? Haha, talking about suing the video guy is VERY punk rock imho.
A little about these tapes: Russ Gibb was a legendary promoter from the Detroit area in the 1960’s/70’s- who did a ton of other things: TV Station manager, School teacher, Disc Jockey, etc. Check his wikipedia for more info (in comments).
Russ passed away in 2019 and someone on Ebay has been auctioning off a bunch of his archival items- show posters, demo tapes, etc. Some of the items that got me interested were these videos. These are beta master tapes with raw footage for the back porch video series/TV show?.
Man, these beta video cameras must have been NICE studio cameras for the quality to be this good for 1988.
I just bought a used high-end beta player from Japan that will arrive next month, so I will try to get a better capture of these.

Starting with All since they shut me down for filming at cattle club in 1988 🙂 heh heh.

I didn’t get the OK to post the other video I had planned for today, and Dean Crist asked for the Doughboys set after I posted All yesterday, so here it is. They were such a great band, it’s too bad that they didn’t seem to get the acclaim that many of their peers did.
