Rampage Radio- KUSF 90.3 FM Compilation 1987? xfer from cassette tape

On the B side of that “Attitude Adjustment soundboard from the farm taped on an official metallica master of puppets tape” is this unlabeled Rampage Radio excerpt. It has a TON of radio static that I could not fix without it sounding weird, so here you go. It is still listenable.

Note: This is different than the one I posted earlier this week

Rampage Radio- KUSF 90.3 FM Compilation 1987 xfer from master tape

My friend Gary Shurtleff reminded me (nicely) that I have a bunch of his cassettes that need to be digitized, so I dug a few out and got to work on them. The first one is a killer time capsule- Ron Quintana’s Rampage Radio show from 1987! Gary said he would stay up until 2am so he could hit “record” and then listen the next day. I lived out of range of the station, so I never got to hear the show.
Listen for uncirculated(?) live recordings of Y&T, Metallica, and others. I think the Suicidal live is from Perkins Palace 1983.
Ron, did you ever get any crap from the FCC for profanity? That was complete insanity! Love it!!

I also found a killer noise reduction plugin for Sony Sound Forge, so you won’t be hearing any more tape hiss.

Surrogate Brains- Demo Late 1980’s Audio Only

Whenever someone asks for something from my personal collection that qualifies for a Sac Music Archive post, I usually post it after getting band permission (if possible). Thanks to Alex Botkin’s request, here is Surrogate Brains’ demo from the late 80s. Steve Rogers from the band believes that this was recorded at Gilman St, back when they did demos. Some tracks were used in compilations and split 7″s.
I received this from Ess Maher(I think) back in the 80s and my copy cuts off. Do you have the complete demo?

Redrum- 4 song Demo 1987 or so xfer from band archive audio tape Sacramento Thrash Metal

This tape is a bit of a mystery. I managed the band when they got back together in 1987, and I do not remember this demo at all. In addition, the track listing on the cover does not match the tape. It does start out with Frontline (as listed), but the second song is Death in Disneyland which is not even shown in the track listing. This version of DiD is one I don’t recall hearing before- it sounds like a studio demo, but not from either of the 2 studio demos made in 1987/88. All other versions of the songs, except Death in Disneyland, appear to be from the “Power Corrupts” demo session.
Check the sweet black with red foil business card in the photo.

EDIT: Mike let me know that this is not the Evil’s End demo, which was only CD tracks anyway. This has the Metal Massacre IX track plus Power Corrupts demo tracks.

Herbicide- Lethal Dose Demo 1987 xfer from band demo tape Sacramento

Hey everybody. I don’t know if you saw or noticed, but my 2 copyright strikes went away so my channel is public again. If you received a ton of new post notifications from me, that’s why. Back to the one post a day cadence. from here on out.
Herbicide was a punk band out of Rancho Cordova, a suburb of Sacramento. They recorded a couple of demos and played quite a few shows in the late 80s, then broke up and disappeared. Their drummer, Scott Oakes, was the drummer in my only band back in the 80s. Scott passed away many years ago in a house fire. Tragic.

The Borman 6- Mad Rover Records Demo Tape 1987 xfer from band archive master audio tape Rebel Truth

Here’s yet another demo tape from Greg Dean’s Borman 6 collection. Sorry for the lack of setlist or pictures of the demo. I dug around and I cannot find pictures of these tapes on my hard drive. I think they are on a DVD somewhere. I’ll check soon.

House of Freaks- The Cooperage, UCLA, Los Angeles Ca. 1987? Live Bryan Harvey First show?

I had a bunch of boxes of CD’s fall down in the studio, so I had to do some repacking and stacking last weekend. My old VHS tapes were right next to my work area and I just happened to find a few things that were sitting up front that I thought people might like. Here’s a House of Freaks vid- man, I loved this band. Their Tantilla album still sounds great to me, 30 years later- you should check it out. They were one of the original 2 man bands. I wonder if this could be one of their first shows- it has all early songs, and Bryan mentions something about this being the first time they played for money…

I checked YT for House of Freaks videos and I was surprised to find that there are hardly any out there. I got a few in trade from this mystery guy named Josh- just Josh, no last name or anything. I can’t even remember how I met him, but he had a bunch of stuff from L.A./Santa Monica that has (and still is) uncirculated.

Video overexposes when panned back, adjusts to look good when zoomed in. Go figure.

It’s really a shame that Bryan passed the way he did- it seems that over time that news/crime has overshadowed his musical accomplishments unfortunately.
