Here’s Vinnie & the Dead Birds. I have to say, this is the rockin’-est band I have ever seen with an acoustic guitar being the main instrument. They are getting a pretty nice following in town.

Here’s the headlining act from Aaron’s 50th Birthday Bash at the Starry Plough- MTX! It was so fun getting back to the starry plough- I had not been there since the early 2000’s. I think the last time was for a Slobberbone or Rhett Miller solo show. The staff was super nice and the sound person was cool. MTX were great as usual, I always feel so lucky to be able to see them as often as I do. Filmed with 2 Canon HFG30, 1 Canon HFG10, and 1 Gopro Hero5. Next up at Aaron’s party is his current band, Bye Bye Blackbirds. These guys are an excellent power pop band- amazing vocals and harmonies. New album is called “Take Out the Poison” that just came out late last year. Filmed with 2 Canon HFG30, 1 Canon HFG10, and 1 Gopro Hero5. So Aaron turned 50 and they threw a big party at Starry Plough in his honor. It was like an Aaron-fest! MTX, Bye Bye Blackbirds, and first up is The Mighty Krudwerk. Krudwerk includes Aaron’s son Ben Rubin and some of his schoolmates at 3 O’Clock Rock. They performed a set of many favorites and one really good original song. Aaron comes up to belt out vocals on one song as well. Filmed with 2 Canon HFG30, 1 Canon HFG10, and 1 Gopro Hero5. SBD/Adience matrix courtesy of Jason Ellis, Edit Courtesy of Agelos. Thanks to Aaron for the invite, for the food & drink, and generosity in general. Enjoy!
I could ramble on and on about this one. This was the best show I have seen this year. The video turned out great as well- I encourage you all to actually watch this one. I was excited to see them, but I was not expecting this level of great. The club was sold out, and it is so small that means that you can’t move. at all. Luckily, I have these pole mounts from Jim Mclain and the club has 3 poles, so I was able to mount 3 cameras. I then wedged into a tiny 12″ x 12″ spot by the bands equipment to film the angle closest to Brian. Since moving was impossible, I asked Colin Sears to put my gopro on stage. He tossed it up there for me(thanks), but the angle is not completely pointed at him. It still turned out OK. The crowd sang along to every song. It was so much fun.

So the Polyorchids only have 3 shows left (2 after last night) before Justin moves and they take a “long nap”. Last Night’s show at the Blue Lamp was so great. I got there late- I got to hear the end of “popgun” from the sidewalk out front. I only missed the first 2 songs. Sorry for the somewhat sloppy camerawork. I had to get my shit together as the show went on. They play at the palms and at cafe colonial soon- check them out.

This was a show that I was looking forward to for a while, and others must have felt the same way. It was packed, even though the foo fighters were playing in town that night. I must have seen Dissident Aggressor play back in the 80s, but they did not stick with me for some reason. When they posted the show announcement and the songs on reverb nation, I was amazed as to how good they are. They still sound great 30 years later- sometimes that style of vocal gets harder to pull off as you get older, but they pulled it off perfectly. filmed with 2 Canon HFG30, 1 Canon HFG10 and a gopro by the drummer.
