Indigo Girls- Greek Theater, Los Angeles Ca 8/26/92 xfer DAT Audience Master Nakamichi CM300 Live

Happy Monday everyone. As you can probably tell, I am just plowing through my DATs in order for the weekday audio posts. So far, we are on DAT #26 out of 2,000. Expect these weekday posts to go on forever.
This one happened right around the time I moved to L.A… in fact, this might have been the first show I attended after moving. I was never able to get a really good recording out of the Greek. That place and my Nakmachi mic did not play well together. Oh well. Warts and all, here it is.

Good Grief- 924 Gilman, Berkeley Ca 8/15/92 xfer from 1st gen soundboard cassette Cringer

Here’s another somewhat obscure bay area punk band- they released a 7″ on Berkeley-based label (homemade records). Harry Sherrill(Cringer) played in the band- it looks like this was the band he was in immediately after Cringer broke up.

Econochrist- McGregor’s, Elmhurst Il. 8/9/92 xfer from 1st gen VHS tape Live East Bay Punk

Here’s the next one in the series of VHS tapes that I digitized for Corbett and Dan, for the East Bay Punk doc. Here is Econochrist from McGregor’s. I was able to enhance this and remove the grain without making it look like you are in a dream, which is rare for a copied VHS tape. As with all of the McGregor’s shows, I hope to re-digitize them and see if I can use the canopus box to bring that exposure down a bit.

Swervedriver- Hultsfred Festival, Sweden 8/8/92 xfer from 1st gen FM Cassette

Hey, I told you that the On This Day post was going to be late. I wasn’t anticipating 10pm late, but I took my son to Six Flags and I learned my limit on the big roller coasters. It is 7. I was so sick, I am finally recovering now.

I love the European festivals and the radio broadcasts that accompanied them. Pure quality.

Mr. T Experience- Joiners Arms, Southampton England 8/7/92 xfer f/band archive VHS MTX East Bay Punk

Here is a CLASSIC show from Aaron Rubin’s collection of MTX VHS tapes from his time in the band. Thanks Aaron!

I am totally perplexed as to why I didn’t personally transfer this one. I had the ability to transfer PAL tapes with a high end deck. I think this one might have had some difficulty playing back since it was so old. Thanks to local transfer house Videolab for the help here. It might be worth another try if Aaron wants to give me another shot.

Rollins Band- First Avenue, Minneapolis Mn. 8/3/92 Audio only xfer 2nd gen cassette FM Soundboard

This one seems to be a local radio station’s live broadcast of a show at first ave. That’s odd, I don’t recall this being a regular thing with this station and I traded with enough folks from Minneapolis to know..
I like how it appears like they gave the show an hour time slot. Once that hour is up, Rollins gets the hook- on air at least.
Looking back, Rollins Band just smoked. I wished I had seen more shows with them back then.
