Captain 9s and the Knickerbocker Trio- 6 Song Demo xfer from Master Tape Late 80s I think

Hi, We are prepping a “Sacramento Concert Archive” website, so I am focusing on getting as much greater Sacramento area related stuff uploaded before we go live on the site. This one comes from Dal Basi’s collection, and is transferred from the original “studio fuckin’ C” tape (inside joke, sorry). Transferred with a nakamchi dragon into an EMU1212M audio capture card. Look at the picture for song titles. Enjoy

The Exploited- Unknown (possibly California) 1988 Plus road footage Juni Bravo Archive Wattie Punk

So this show was on the same tape as the Slim’s show(I think), so I assume this show took place in California. We know we have San Diego on a clearly marked tape, and one of the videos right before this show says “SF” and the venue looks like Slim’s. This is probably either the Sacramento or Long Beach date. Brian McKenna Jerry Perry, Hayden Arellano where did Exploited play in Sac in 1988? Jason Ellis Jon Vogel does this look like Long Beach(probably Fender’s)? JUNI BRAVO ARCHIVE: I bought a bunch of live VHS tapes of Ebay about 6 months ago. I bought them mainly for a Bad Religion Multicam from 1988 that was uncirculated, but I got a while box of VHS tapes. The tapes were intriguing enough for me to try to find out who Juni is- it turns out that she was a Video archivist from the mid- to late-80s based in San Diego & texas. She followed the Exploited on tour in 1988 and produced the “Anarchy in the USA” VHS tape for them. She passed away a couple of years ago and (unbeknownst to me) some guy was selling her stuff off. I decided to post the stuff that was OK to post publicly to be sure Juni got her due, and to let fans of the band see this stuff- there is some gold in here. I also NEED YOUR HELP with some of this stuff. The tapes were poorly labeled so I don’t know who some of the bands are, and I don’t know most of the venues. Any help identifying stuff is appreciated.

Mimes- Demo, Sacramento Ca late 1980s xfer f/band archive cassette

Today’s audio collections post is from Scott Capizzano’s box of goods. The Mimes started in Sacramento in the late 80s and then moved to Los Angeles and had quite a bit of momentum/publicity before hanging it up. Scott played drums in the band and he still drums to this day. I think he might be on the road with Handsome Dick Manitoba again…

A bunch of Sacramento folks should enjoy this one- they had a big fan base here before they moved away.

JC Burris- An Evening with JC Burris 1980s final edit xfer f/VHS Master Scott Davey Collection

This one from Scott Davey’s collection is the final edit of the JC Burris video that he created. I posted some of the raw footage from one of the Umatic master tapes a couple months back- this is his finished product. The edit gear he used caused quote a drop in quality unfortunately.

I still have a few other raw umatic tapes that I can post if there is interest.

Operation Ivy- Untitled Radley Hirsch Live Outtakes CD xfer f/Master Tapes-CDR OPIV Lookout Records

Here’s an interesting one from Radley Hirsch’s collection. This disc was just labeled “Operation Ivy” with no other info. 4 tracks on this CD- There were 2 short tracks on the CD to start, then a long 30 minute track that seems to be a combo of live tracks and studio outtakes. 4th track seems to be all outtakes. “Hangin’ Out” from the Floyd comp makes an appearance at the 36 minute mark, and that is the only one identified as an officially released track.

Please don’t release this on bootlegs, you freaks. Who the hell would want a ripped-off-youtube-pressed-on-vinyl monstrosity anyway? Thanks.

MaximumRocknNRoll Radio- Tape 6 late 1980’s xfer f/master audio cassette Heresy Ripcord D.R.I. Punk

Collections post from ⁨@bootlegcowboys⁩ today. It’s the last of the MRNR tapes in the box, so that means more variety from this collection next month, haha.
Lots of good stuff on this one, including stuff from the Creamers (check it out RJ) and lookout records’ own Plaid Retina.

Identity Crysis- Community Cable Live in Studio 1988 xfer f/1st gen VHS off band archive tape Banger

Collections time, and another one from Ken Doose’s box of videos. He got this VHS tape from the band, so it is most likely 1st or 2nd gen.

This one made me chuckle because there is almost no guitar in the studio mix. Even when playing for TV, Bill has his amp cranked to 11 (louder stage volume=lower board levels for the uninitiated). LOL, just kidding Bill. You owe me a text btw.

I don’t know which community cable this was filmed with- probably Roseville or Sacramento. Lighting was so dim that I had to bump up the brightness and exposure before denoising.

Identity Crysis- Mine Shaft, Rancho Cordova 1988 xfer from low gen VHS tape Mystic records

I want to be sure that everyone knows that Ken Doose has a LOT of really great quality Sacramento area stuff in his collection. High quality master audio and video tapes. So, why did I decide to post this as the very first thing from his collection? It’s because Jeff Arellano has been asking me if I had this damned video for like 15 years. HERE. haha. Also, The Mine Shaft was a legendary teen hangout in the 80s and this is the only video I have ever seen from there.
This video was so dark that you could not see anything at all. I was able to fix it up so you can see the band and denoise all of the graininess. Still sounds awful though.
I promise you- great stuff coming from Ken’s collection!

Haywire- Los Angeles, Ca. 1988 1st gen from band soundboard cassette Alternative Grunge Crossover

Wayne V traded with a member of Haywire back in the late 80s, and they sent him this tape. These guys were on We Bite Records (same label as Attitude) and consisted of Billy Rubin, John Bruce, Rick Greeno, and Vadim Rubin. They sound like they were part of the early alternative/grunge sound, before it was coined “grunge”.- Discogs has them down as a crossover band, which this recording could be considered.. but not the album I heard. Regardless, really good stuff and worth a listen.
