Big thanks to Dal at Phono Select for giving me this tape to post- he might have more for sale at the shop. You should go shop there- best record store around!
I wanted to get this posted in honor of Bobby Khan. I was not close friends with him, but he was always super cool to me. He was always up for talking about the old Clear & Distinct metal shows. It’s still shocking that he is gone- I never knew he had any health issues. Be nice, you never know what people are dealing with.

I never intended to post this, but it turned out pretty cool and Brian & I don’t talk too much trash about everyone.
Last year, a guy named Nick Parker approached me (and other documentarians of the sac punk scene) to contribute to a display that was in the lobby of the main library on I street. It turned out really great, with old flyers, photos, zines, and media.
And I know it sounds like I am bagging on Charles Albright about the IGD LP… but I had to re-buy one as well (for $70) since I gave mine to Jimmie Couch. So it is all of us dad punx who are paying too much for IGD LPs and driving the market price up. haha.
Brian McKenna was there with me and chimes in occasionally.
And seriously, if you know of anyone who has that Dehumanizers sac video, or a clean copy of slayer backstage at the stone, please contact me.

It’s time for the locals post- this is when we spotlight a local to the Sacramento area artist who released an independent or small-run CD that is not readily available anymore. This one is from Jeff Watson band. I don’t think this is the same Jeff Watson who was in Night Ranger, but I am sure someone will correct me if it is one and the same.

What a great show. This tour must have been a blast. Thanks to Lys Mayo for the nice mix. I was going to combine this with an audience recording but haven’t had a chance.
RIP Steve Soto.

Here is something a little different from the local scene. I have been told that the Sacramento Music Archive focuses too much on punk/metal/Alternative, but the archive really just plays back what it has.
I can’t remember where I found this one, but it seems to be nowhere online. Stunna Blu is a U.S. Westcoast Rapper out of South Sacramento. I’ll add the song titles in facebook comments. Might be a bit spicy for the FB photo bots.

This is not a video- this is an audio recording of this show. I have had these mics for about 5 years now (thanks Jason for giving me a good deal on them) and this is probably the best sounding show that I have recorded with them. Recorded about 20 feet back from the right PA stack. This is completely raw- I have not remixed or adjusted levels. You might want to bring your bass down in your EQ a bit. Some people who went to the show may enjoy this: Brian McKenna Jerry Perry Larry Boothroys Paul Piazza Dal Basi and I am sure I am missing many others.

For today’s On This Date in History, I pulled one that Anonymous recorded. Richard played 2 hours and 20 min! first 7 songs solo acoustic, 2nd set as an electric trio w/Davey Faragher and Michael Jerome. The last time I saw Davey, he was wearing a beautiful sequined dress, playing bass for Cracker at Cattle Club.

Ten tears ago, Anonymous 1 and I headed to ace of spades to see Saxon. This was back when Ace was pre-Live Nation, and were still somewhat tolerable.
So I asked the road manager/merch guy if I could video Saxon and he was shockingly OK with it.I was sure I was going to be shut down. Well, 3 songs into videotaping, I get shut down…but that is not the end of the story.
Anonymous 1 was there with his schoeps rig and made this amazing quality recording of the entire set. The show focuses on the early albums so this is a real treat to old school Saxon fans.
My 3 songs are also on the channel/archive if you want to see me get busted.

Equipment used: Schoeps MK4– Nbob active cables — Tinybox into a sony M10 digitial recorder.
He also did some post processing in Adobe audition.
