Accused AD- Plaid Pig, Tacoma Wa. 8/6/22 4K UHD Multicam Hardcore Punk Metal

What a wild night. I was on vacation doing family stuff and I get to the club super late. Across the street from the venue is 2 biker bars and there are literally HUNDREDS to harley davidsons lined up and people packed in the bars and flowing out onto the street. I got lucky and found a parking spot right next to one of the bars and across the street from the venue.
I get in there and this is the punkest punk club I have been to in years- dank and humid, graffiti everywhere, and the drink selection consisted of PBR, Miller and Coors light. I talk to the soundman about plugging into the board and he tells me that the outputs are blown- there is no way to get a board mix. So instead, I settle into an area that should be safe from the pit and a good place for audio… and then that side of the PA starts smoking. The soundman assures me that it is working fine, but when Blaine starts checking the mic, nothing is coming out of that main.
So I scramble over to the other side of the stage and get close to the PA, hoping I get decent audio. Nope- it was garbled and distorted. So instead of a board mix, or the rode video pro stereo mic, you get Canon HFG50 stock audio. I tried.

The Accused- 924 Gilman, Berkeley Ca 4/27/90? xfer from unknown gen audio cassette

Another day, another Accused tape. This one comes from Gary Shurtleff’s collection. A lot of the audio tapes he gave me are master tapes, and this one sounds like one of his Sony D3 recordings (it even behaved the same when I EQ’d it) but he did not tape any audio after he got his camcorder in 1990. Hmm… it’s a mystery. There are also a couple cuts in the tape, so I am not sure that it is the complete show.
The tape is labeled “Accused Gilman”, so I am unsure of the date. They do songs off of Grinning Like an Undertaker, so I am assuming it is the 4/27/1990 . Let me know if I am off base (looking at you, Blaine).

The Accused- 924 Gilman, Berkeley Ca. 4/27/90? Xfer from low gen soundboard tape

This one is a bit of a mystery. After the CoP show, there is 10 minutes of The Accused’s set from… somewhere. I don’t see them playing Gilman until 1990, so I put it up as that. I asked Wayne about it and he thinks that this is one of those situations where he taped the CoP, then copied someone else’s tape at the end. Maybe another Tim Yo thing, maybe someone else. Maybe Gilman, maybe not. Not much hiss on this one. I was able to rebalance it and bring up bass and drums. Still raw as hell, which is how it should be imho.

From Wayne Vanderkuil’s collection. If anyone has any ideas about the location/date of this show, let me know.

The Accused- Bernard’s Pub, St. Louis Mo 5/5/89 xfer from master VHS-C Tape Full Complete Show Punk

I seem to be leaning heavily on Jim Utz’ video masters for recent On This Day in History posts- I hope that’s alright with you all. Jim was a busy guy back then- he taped that Ultraman show on the 1st and then he was back at it with W.T.G. and The Accused at Bernard’s on the 5th.
Here’s the Accused in all their early glory. I think they were on the Maddest Stories tour here.

The Accused- Ruthie’s Inn, Berkeley Ca 6/12/88 xfer from 2nd gen VHS tape Punk Crossover

I pulled this DVD for today’s On This Date in History. I digitized some of ⁨@bootlegcowboys⁩ VHS tapes years ago and this was one of them. The filmer did the entire night- NOFX, Paranoia, and The Accused. NOFX was posted (on facebook only) by Daniel Hague, and this Accused set is nowhere online.

Why wasn’t I there? Because I was videotaping TWO shows on this night. Sacrilege BC at Lite Rail inn, then over to Club Obsession (later club me, then cattle club) for Dag Nasty… in Sacramento

The Accused- Payne Field, Everett Wa 4/12/86 xfer from unknown gen audio cassette splatter rock punk

After much ado, here is one from Chris Eng’s collection. I thought I had one ready from him on Monday, only to see that Lord Pryderi already posted it. Then it was a hunt through his boxes of tapes for something that hadn’t been posted before. I found a few, but here is one that I enjoyed.
Here’s a show from The Accused during my favorite era- Return of Martha Splatterhead. The channel separation and the lack of distortion makes it sounds like it was recorded on one of those old boom boxes with decent mics. Not saying it sounds particularly great, but it’s not bad and a very early show.

Note: Show was moved to Payne field according to Blaine Cook… and he should know
