Here’s bay area thrash band Sacrilege BC at Lite Rail Inn. Even though I liked these guys a lot, this was the only time I got to see them. There’s something to be said about goofballs singing about evil stuff.

Last video for the weekend, and it is a good one. I love this band, and they never seem to get their due. When people talk about bay area thrash bands, you hear Metallica/Exodus/Death Angel/Forbidden etc etc… but Sacrilege was easily at the same level as many of them.
This one was hard to clean up- the lighting at the Mab goes from too dark to overexposed, so I could not do much with lighting. I was able to denoise it a good deal. I like this one better than my set at the Lite Rail a year later. This one sounds way better than that one.

Here’s a cool one from Chris Eng’s VHS collection… filmed by Ron Quintana. Thanks to Chris for letting me digitize his collection, and thanks to Ron for giving the OK to post.
I have shared my opinion about this band multiple times on here. If you have not heard them, do yourself a favor and buy the Party with God album. The southern lord records’ reissue vinyl is cheap on discogs. Go get ’em!
I also need to thank Wayne Vanderkuil- I had no info on this show, except for band name and date. He found the venue and city, and was even able to correct one of the bands on the tape (hint: it’s a different Katon De Pena band). Thanks Wayne!

I posted this set from a 1st gen cassette last year, before taking on Wayne Vanderkuil’s collection to digitize. I came across the master so since it sounds pretty good for a recording from that era, it was worth a re-do and EQ. I will never understand why these guys didn’t enjoy the popularity of their peers such as Possessed, Forbidden, Death Angel, etc. I have always liked them just as much if not more. Was it because they were not on Combat/Metal Blade? No idea, and Alchemy was a better label anyway. Yep, I said it out loud.
Anyway, enjoy. This is what happens when I drink energy drinks due to lack of sleep.

This one sounds pretty damned good, given that it is a 1985 recording with consumer equipment. I’ll give this a good remix once Wayne digs his tapes out of storage 🙂

I was asked to digitize a Violent Coercion demo (which kicks ass btw), and there were a couple of Sacrilege Ruthies shows on the tape as well. These were received in trade in 1986- I don’t have a record of who recorded the show, but this is likely a copy right off the master. Non-professional recording equipment was used, so the quality isn’t great.
I don’t have a flyer image for this show, so you get a pic of the Ruthie’s location as it looks today. Hey, maybe someone can rent out the hall and recreate one of these classic bills!

You would not believe how bad this one sounded before EQ- it was muffled and not a fun listen. Now it is not quite as muffled and it kinda kicks ass.
In my last Sacrilege post, I pondered why they didn’t get as big as their peers at the time, like Forbidden, Possesed, etc. Sean from the band mentioned something that I never considered, because my brain isn’t wired that way. There was a “tight jean and high top shoes” fashion that was pretty popular in the scene in the 80s. Maybe that was it. Who knows, the songs were definitely there.
